Hybrid PD130 arrived.

Bought from GP Tuning, hoping to get it fitted next week. They claim it's good for over 220bhp but I'll only be running a clutch/smoke friendly remap at 200bhp.

Garrett Hybrid PD130 fitted yesterday and all seems good so far! No more overboost that I was getting with the standard turbo. For the information of anyone looking to get an ASZ Garrett turbo, it will need to be clocked but the EGR does line up! I know that seems pretty obvious considering they are both PD130 ASZ turbos but I couldn't find this info before anywhere before I was having it fitted! This means no error code and no need for EGR delete.

I bought the turbo from GP Tuning and they were a good £300 less than any other turbo company, I asked about the actuator set up and he assured me that it was set to manufacturers specification. I asked JKM to fit it but they wouldn't fit anything that's not OEM. So I went searching for someone else that was reputable and was recommended IGS in Eastleigh http://www.independe...services.co.uk/

Jim Price is the owner and he was fantastic, he had lots of time for me and discussed the job in detail. The guys there are obviously very skilled and they work on a number of motorsport cars. I explained what I wanted to do and he was able to advise. I'd seriously recommend these guys to anyone in the Hampshire area and I will definitely be using them again!

I also attempted to fit the R32 steering wheel. All was going well until I overtightened a bolt and snapped it. It's really frustrating as now I've got to find an engineering company to drill it out.

Looked at the instructions for the Whiteline RARB and it seems pretty simple to fit so going to have a go at that this weekend. Same with the LCR splitter, I should be able to do it but I might just take the bumper off to make sure it gets lined up properly.

Still need to get it booked in for H&R Springs and Cupra/Powerflex wishbone bushes fitted.

Once all of that's done, booking it in at Unit18 for some remap action

My airbag is a tad faded so I'll try some back to black or I might just buy a new one.

Definitely a worth while upgrade, steering feels a lot nicer now.

Love this mod. although I prefer the matt finish on leather. It would match your airbag then!

Yeah I am getting tempted to sell this one just to get that. I didn't realise they did two different ones when I bought it!

Oh nor did I? am sure you can Matt it down with some magic stick or cleaner.

Lol, Maybe I dreamt it it. When I look at other cars the colours don't seem as different as mine so I assumed there was two.... I'm most probably wrong though. I might try to Matt it down just worried I would wreck it.

Whiteline RARB fitted today, pretty straight forward job.

I gave it a little test and it wasn't the night and day change I was expecting but coupled with the H&R lowering springs I'm sure it will make a difference.

I'll take some better photos once the springs are fitted.

Soapy water, tooth brush and elbow grease will bring it back to life! Bit of time and patience and it'll be nice and Matt for 5 minutes.

What did you put your white line on? Stiffest?

  • Author

Thanks for the reply, I'll give that a go.

Yeah I put it on the stiffest setting, I'm booking into JKM later this month so I might just get them double check it. I think I just expected the car to have no roll whats so ever and there is still a bit, although not as bad as it was when standard.

I'm getting the H&R springs fitted in a week or so I guess that will make a big difference.
