LCR complete engine

can you do this work yourself lee?

if not am not sure its worth the several grand it will cost to buy all the new parts and swap over for an extra 30bhp?!

hybrids are not mega bucks you just need it done properly, they are around 700 from cr turbos, think turbo technics still do them too, the bonus is you can fit with your stock setup. They would rebuild or exchange your own turbo.

If not the k04 001 iirc is a stock fit as already mentioned, otherwise you have to change more parts over to get a normal k04 to fit. A genuine one wont be cheap i dont suppose, probably similar money to the hybrid.

Again not sure its really worth the effort or money, hyrbid with your own setup, uprated intercooler, tip, injectors, fpr and map etc would be the cheapest route imo.

i agree - just that there was a comment made that said hybrids are a bit hit and miss as to which ones work well and which work less well. as i have no experience of a hybrid turbo and i do not know of anyone in the north of scotland who runs a hybrid there is no opportunity to go out in someone elses car to see what difference it makes

am i right in thinking the hybrid i would be best off going for starts off as a K03s and they just re work the internals and keep the snail housing largely as stock? can they fit bigger wheels inside the standard K03s housing or are the wheels the same size but with different profiles to get more out of it.

thanks for all the help and advice so far. i am just trying to soak it all up

Ok so let pu it together

Ko4-oo1 turbo

Turbo back exhaust ( either decat or sport cat)

Decent Intercooler

Modded airbox or cai

someone to map it properly

Is this what is needed to run around 250bhp? Or is there anything else needed?

that sounds about right Steve - i am just searching out some bits still just thinking K03s hybrid or K04 001? which is the better unit? i do not think i would ever need to see much mote than 250 to 260bhp so maybe having a K04 which may do more than this is potentially a waste and the 03 a better bet. still reading up on hybrids as we speak

You can probably get away with standard airbox and standard filter, I've seen Cupra R's running 250bhp still with the standard airbox just a remap, exhaust and better intercooler

mates tt is running 256 bhp with just a remap?

thats because he has a ko4-23 as standard

ah that would do it! :)

Talking rubbish

Ok, when you`re so smart show me the printouts B)

if the person who made such statements thinks a k03s with all supporting mods is maxed at 220 then let him believe it.

if he thinks a hybrid k04 is maxed at 270 then let him believe it

we know the truth we have seen the proof many times i have done it seen it and probably got a few t-shirts along the way also

agree to disagree :p

Hey, i`m not trying to argue with you just explain it like normal human being what I said was wrong and back it up with evidence, nothing else. I said 220-230 cca for K03s, hybrid K04-001 cca 270-280.I am not saying that it couldn`t be done, but haven`t seen it yet.

Best regards

hybrid k004-001??? is what???? so many variations to what could have been done to it

i have seen a k03s hybrid running 325 bhp  technically its a k04 hybrid built into a k03s for example

the k03s will support 240bhp

 :p

I think he was on about the injectors anyway which as far as I know *do* need to be the bigger ones if you're running the K04-23 otherwise why didn't VAG just use the same injectors on the Cupra R and S3 as they did on the VRS

for a k04-023 yes you do but are we not talking about k04-001???

its all hypothetical anyway...

what does that word mean? :wonder:

p.s i prefer 1000cc injectors covers all bases then B)

K03s with RS6 internals - CR turbos advised they would do this for about £700 and it would with the right mods give 280 to 300 bhp.

Sounds good as i am only really wanting 260 bhp ish but do not want to just rely on the std K03s as i feel it, and a few other bits would expire at this power (if indeed the std would even reach this level).

needing to get the bits bought, FMIC, exhaust, LCR injectors, FPR, fuel pump, LCR brakes, coil overs etc and once i have them all get them fitted. i am looking for a car which is not too stressed otherwise the engine and gear box won't last and i use it as a daily driver.

cheers for all your help, i will keep you posted over the next 12 months as it takes shape

thanks

really dont get where you have gone with this lol

from a bolt on turbo wich will give you a nice 260

your now looking at above lol

so now your going into that catergory you will need the following here some prices lol

turbo £700

injectors £100

fuel pump £100

4 bar regulator £50

coilovers £300-£1000

lcr brakes £500

fmic £500

full exhaust £500

custom map £550

clutch £200

that £4000 so far lol

this is without fitting lmfao see where we are going ??? there is also consumable to go with that also plus a loads for fitting but if you really wanna go down this road give me a buzz i will fit it all for you ;)

when you say engine stressed you do realise that you are now putting a lot more power through it over standard spec so surely it WILL be more stress on the engine and box and breather system

if it was as easy as 1 2 3 everyone would have done it ( ITS NOT )

it also sounds like you havent even got th car yet lol so dont run before you can walk.

IMO i think you should get a nice decat on it and some coiloers + panel filter and a remap and go from there if you want more then you can upgrade to front mount and stage 2 if you want more then go hybrid etc etc but imo a well setup car like oet's and billys on here has more punch and will smash other higher powerd cars onn this forum as they have done one thing right its not all about big power as power is usless unless it can be used !!!!!!! 240bhp ina car thats had all the handling mods and a nice diff is mega quick

a car that has a hybrid and doesnt have the handling mods like there will be blown away by them as the hybrid cannot and will not use the power it has to its full capacity

hope this makes sense

enjoy whatever you choose to do  pm me if you need any more advise or a hand doing bits

I have Forge FMIC, Forge DV, Milltek decat non resonated exhaust, silicone TIP,BMC filter and Peloquin diff and 225hp&330Nm.

IMO the best mod beside custom map is definitely exhaust and peloquin diff. Diff is installed last week, handling is superior to stock, it`s just unbelievable.

At WOT my injectors are fully open, injection duty cycle is around 24ms.

If it was me; with K04-001 i would install also 386cc or 440cc injectors with drop in fuel pump Bosch 040 or Walbro 255, but hey, it`s just me

I think the problem now with these cars is they are now going for silly cheap prices so you have to ask yourself is it really worth spending double what they're worth to squeeze an extra 50bhp out of them...

Do yourself a favour and ditch the Bmc filter they are proven to be crap on these cars with a loss in cfm

Yes diff transforms the car add that to a full r32 front suspension setup and wow just how it should have left factory ;-)
