So far the ideas for a few day trips are:

The Castle they filmed Casino Royale

long day trip to Poland

Doksy and Airfield

Prague walkabout and see the sights

Skoda Factory and prototypes (hopefully)

and a few more ideas, to double check, if others have a few ideas they would like to PM me then please do.

Also for the people driving to Prague, I have planned a mini detour for us all to stop and see the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Caslte, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuschwanstein_Castle,

just gotta work out times etc.

Sounds cool to me. What was that restaurant we all went to where we have the photos of you with a Pina Colada? Maybe we could go there again, that was nice. Are we meeting Pert and his gang again, or have we lost contact now?

Which hotel are you looking at btw?

Oh, and we need to go on the pedalos on the river! lol

ooo theres an idea for a day trip, a boat along the river.

This meet is definite, and I have a few other pubs planned for evening meal. At the moment, the Hotel is depending on numbers. Once I confirm how many parking spaces a few hotels have that we can nick I will update to get people to book there rooms :D

I love boats! count me in as a definate... even if I have to steal from old ladies....

If others have a few ideas they would like to PM me then please do.

They film Casino Royale in Karlovy Vary which is a Spa Town and its a nice place for a day trip:

Don't know how many people would be interested in this but.... Terezin is worth a visit. It was a concentration camp during the war and has a lot of information in Czech/English/German and a visitors centre on site.

Easily done in less than a day so you could plan something else en route or just have an easy day Czeching out the scenery on the way there and back. No need to book a site seeing tour from Prague (unless you want to) you can just turn up and pay the small entrance fee. You can also book your own tour guide while you are there but you might have to do that in advance for an English guide.

I'll think of some more suggestions.

Will,

What is the intended route & rest stops please?

Which Ferry company and route?

I need to check how realistic it is to travel in convoy with you guys or drive over in our own time and then im free to meet up in Prague and take a couple of days off on my own B)

Thanks in advance.

Rough calculations so far is the distance for me is 1,520 miles one way so fuel alone for a return trip and 2 or 3 tanks full while im there is going to be almost £1,000 (depending on fuel prices & mpg). Thats calulated at current uk petrol prices and av of 25mpg. £780-£800 will be fuel for the return trip only :o I hope to improve on this (increase mpg up to 30mpg) and hopefully can do the fuel costs and ferry for £1k

P.S. Will PM me if you prefer

Holiday all booked :)

1. Tigger & paige (as she has now booked holiday)

2. Sharkrider, black & white, Can + softscoop .(mark II fabia vRS)

3. Gilly & Wibble

4. Loz + 1 (flying!)

5. LexVRS + any willing passangers to keep cost down?

6. vRS Joe + any willing passangers to keep cost down?

A little confused how you calculated your fuel costs, mines a fabia vRS diesel and the last 3 years I been it was about 4 tanks of diesel the whole trip, driving flat out averaging 35 - 45 MPG, tank of fuel at most with vent trick £90. Usually Europe and Cz is cheeper in fuel costs, so for a diesel I would expect about about £300 on fuel if that. Is the petrol cars really that bad?

I have a petrol TFSI Stage 3. I average around 25-27mpg overall (town, short trips and motorway). I can get betwenn 30-35 on a long motorway run but obviously higher speeds will affect that figure.

I expect my rough calculations to be an overall average but realistically I hope they can be improved and maybe achieve around 30mpg as an overall average. I am making sure im prepared for the worst case.

I know the fuel prices are cheaper in europe but you will be surprised how much they have gone up in Cz alone since your last trip so for the purposes of a quick calculation I just used the UK fuel price.

I can guarantee my fuel costs will be well in excess of £300  . If you can get there and back on £300 your on to a winner

If you prefer look at it this way - Average 250 miles per tank full. £80 per tank full. 1,520 mile there and 1,520 miles back = 3040. 3040 total miles divided by 250miles per tank = 12.16 * £80 per tank = £972.80 :'(

Would love to hear some realistic costs from some with a 2.0 tfsi.

I still think I need to budget £1,000 for fuel and ferry costs :S

The last time we went, Makefish filled up about every half an hour as I recall

Please could everyone keep the list upto date  I have a great Hotel planned but if numbers get too big will need to arrange a nicer one. At the moment we have room for about 17 people in the hotel, and secure parking for about 7-8 briskodian cars (not hire cars :p )

Also I will start arranging the hotel from the 1st March.

If I do hire a car it will be for a day trip not the whole time! that would be ridiculous! I'm thinking most of the time it would be best to hitch a lift and give some taxi money for the fuel etc.

We want a nice hotel no matter how many are going Will lol. Make sure it's one that's quite near the city, as it's much better than being miles away from everything!

The Hotel I have in mind is very nice, with secure parking and will cost about £50 per night for a double room.

There is also 1 single room and also a 4 bed room, with a double bed and a bunk bed.

If you are driving your own car you will have first choice of room and anyone who doesn't stay the whole trip or wimps out and flys, may need to book a hotel near. :p

One good thing about flying is you can get a double room for about £10 cheaper at 1 of the skanky hotels near by.

Otherwise if this does get v popular, would people be willing to pay about £80 per night for a double bed room with 24 hour secure parking and a Tram stop outside the front door?

OOOOOOOooooo I think I have just found the perfect Hotel, less than £25 per person per night, tram stop outside, loads of rooms for everyone and finally Hotel only underground Secure parking. Before I start a new thread with all the details I am waiting for an email back from the Hotel. :D

I'm not coming if I'm going to be in a skanky room/single room! I'll just go on my own holiday! I have put my name on here as I want to be part of the meet, driving/flying makes no real difference to that. If anything it's useful as gives you less cars to find secure parking for!

You will be fine now, I think I have found the perfect hotel for all of us and secure parking :D

That hotel link you sent me will looks good... within walky distance of proper-town too...

Im only coming if there some proper nights drinking! emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

The majority of attendees drink little, if at all.
