Theres a new 2 car works team in the BTCC to be anounced this weekend at the Birmingham show.

Strong rumours its part of the VAG group & hints it might be Skoda, possibly run by TH Motorsports. Second best rumour Ive heard is a VW Sciroco

Anyone any inside angles on this or better rumours

Well... Skoda are still doing rally, but VW are looking to get a Polo in, too... which may force Skoda out?

I heard Skoda were going to appear in BTCC but haven't seen any confirmation.

Would be nice to see a Yeti on the grid.

It's a privateer team as far as I know but the Octavia they are building will be a NGTC-spec car so should be fairly competitive. If it's successful might pave the way for a factory team in coming years.

One things for sure I'll be going to cheer them on when it comes to Brands.

The local guy Rob Austin, who ran an A4 last season, was rumoured to be switching to an Octavia as well as TH though not heard any update on this since last summer. Spoke to Tom Boardman the SEAT driver about it yesterday at Autosport and he did not know anything about a fellow VAG driver.

I now know who it is & its not any of the vag brands.

Its now official MG, guess its a chance to use up the shells from some of the many unsold cars. They have managed to lure Plato to drive so must be a reosnable contender http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/97167

Itv4 normally & they show the whole days racing not just the btcc

I thought regs on NGTC were a four door saloon anyhow so wouldn't that rule out the Octavia anyhow?

I have not heard a recent update to TH Motorsport's Octavia entry though times are so tough, as seen at Autosport, Peugots pull out of motorspoort that anything an happen.

Octvia has too much rear wheel overhang to be as competetive as Leon and other VAG and no VAG cars but as we know in BTCC it is not always about having the absolute fastest accelerating or best handling as much of the tracks are narrow and it is how you fight in the pack.

No updated news, but is on both the Team and driver web sites so still looks promising.

We'll have to wait a few weeks for the final entries to be listed on the BTCC web site.

Any possibility of a load of us clubbing together to get a Briskoda sticker on the car for the season? Nothing massive but still noticeable? I'd happily donate towards it.

I hope it will be in there, it was reported in Autosport last year that TH motorsport would be fielding an Octavia to NGTC regs this year. I'll be off to Thruxton this year, maybe for both days as I have a mate at work who is a marshall and he gives me his free ticket. Doing it for the Grand Prix this year too :clap:

Have you marshalled any BRSCC events? I used to work for them many moons ago

im on b.a.r.c so most likley they normally join up, but its my 2nd season in marshalling

Talking to a local Briskoda member last night whose son is one of Mat Jacksons mechanics in the Motorbase team and it sounds like the Skoda may not be starting this season.

There was a meeting at the end of last month which all teams that were planning to start this season were supposed to attend and TH Motorsport weren't there.

The only teams at the meeting running VAG cars were Rob Austin (Audi A4) and AmD (Golf).

So possibly we'll only see the Skoda later in the season, if at all :(
