FABIA BLACK GRILL

Featured Replies

I'm interested in taking the chrome grill of my fabia and replacing it with the black pack one, so any ideas about cost and how easy is it to do ?

I have a black grille for the pre fl in the free section

Mine cost me £50 today not cheap but worth it to get rid of the damn chrome.

was thinking about carbon fibre di-noc stuff for mine ???

Parts cost around £60. Not to hard a job to do, theres a good thread here on fitting the grill. Click the link below

Bare in mind some of the reviews say it last's 5 Months to a Year. Also it is a matt finish.

Hello and greetings from Finland. This is my first post on the forum so bare with me.

I just bought a 2008 Skoda Fabia 1.4 TDI Sport with 40000km on it in black, tinted windows etc.

I've been searching for a black grill for the front for a while now and all of the Monte Carlo parts seem to only fit the facelift model.

I was wondering if any of you had an idea where I could get a black grill (I can get the top part with the logo but now the edges of the grill)?

Or if there is any other way I could turn it black. I don't want plastidip since it seems to wear off after a while and it's in matt finish.

Any ideas guys? Thank you for your help.

some people have suggested foil wrapping, its probably more durable than paint but it's going to be a bit of a bugger to do on a grill.

Do you have any link for example ebay which I could have a look at the foil wrapping?

Do you have any pictures of the wrapping? Where did you get the foil wrapped and can you tell me more about the procedure? Thanks.

hi i got wrapping from my local car/sign graphics workshop cost me £10 for 2mts x 1mts gloss black. will be hard to tell you how to do it but if you go on youtube (how to foil wrap) you will get an idea there  you will get the hang of it after a couple of times. I will take some pics and post for you.

Did you remove the grill first or did you wrap the grill as it was (is it even possible)? And what I noticed from other films (for example lamin-x) that they use some kind of squeegee(?). Did you get this from your local workshop as well or what did you use? Thanks for your help.

you're better with 3m di noc vinyl. much easier to work with as long as you give it a wee heat as you go (hairdryer for example)

easier to remove part I would of thought

Does it come in gloss black? The only ones, I was able to find were carbon fibre.

ah... not sure on that my friend.

just from experience I've found it a breeze to use esp for any wee curves and bends compared to normal vinyl.you may find that the stuff skoda1982 used was easy to work with also and may have a link to it :-)

yes got squeege 50p from workshop the trim is about 10mm so i cut a strip about 50mm then started at the top with bonnet open then worked down with hairdryer using squeege pushing in the gaps then trim very carefully with a craft knife. ok after 2nd go.If you cannot get any i could post you some

I'm going today to a nearby workshop, they said they have gloss black vinyl. Yes it might be better to wrap the trim with it being in place since I've read about it being shattered when people have been trying to change it (in the facelift). It might be a bit expensive to post it to Finland but thanks for the offer :).

Just to make sure, this item fits the non facelift model (-08) 5J0853633B (black piece with the logo on top of the grill)?

Why don't you paint it with matte black spray (primer applied first), I've done this for my Roomster, paint lasted 2 year, than I've removed it with solvent.
