anything to look out for

Featured Replies

morning

monday morning im off on a 2 hour trip to look at a less then 12 month old 1.8TSi Elegance

even though its new is there anything to look out for,(car is at a main skoda dealer) any software updates that should of been carried out over the last few months ie satnav etc ....

im going to ask (assuming its got them) to switch on the DRL but didnt know if anything else to ask/advise as the deal is if i go to them to sign up they will deliver car to me

thanks

I have just changed from 2010 VRS CR170 DSG to a Superb 1.8TSi Elegance DSG

Q's

Has it been serviced, check service book. Use Maxidot to check service date and is it on fixed or variable

Will the Columbus allow 7 digit postcode entry. If not get them to update firmware and maps

Has it been an accident

Has it got a spare wheel

Is the umbrella in the rear NS door

What is the state of the Thermisto alloys. They can delaminate quite easily due their Diamond finish. Got the dealer to refurb mine

If its got Lunas, I'll swap emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Are both keys present. You can set each key to a different seat position

Check the oil level

Have a close look at the paintwork for chips, dents etc

Hope that helps

IMO the 1.8TSi is a great engine, quieter and smoother than the CR170 diesel I had

The whole car is more sophisticated and comfortable than the Octavia

V7 maps (when 7 digit postcodes were introduced) came around October...ish 2010, so this one should be OK (my Dec 2010 car has V7, but some newer ones did not - it should of come with V7 and suitable FW, so get the dealer to update it FOC if need be)

DRL's came as std in May 2010 and can be turned on and off in the MFD (maxidot)

Service may not be due to them all coming from the factory on variable servicing (some dealers however change them to time and date - 10K / 12months, if this is the case make sure it has been serviced)

Spare wheel was optionsl (along with the jack and toolkit) if it doesn't have one then get the dealer to include one - he will probably just swap it out of another Superb

Between May and December 2010 the umbrella was dropped from the std spec, either way get them to supply one FOC if it is missing.

Do NOT get the Thermisto's refurbished - the 'white worm' is covered under warranty so get them replaced, check the round Skoda badges whilst you are at it as they also suffer from the 'white worm' .

What options has the car got over std Elegance trim?

How many owners has the car had - look at the V5 for yourself, don't take the dealers word for it!

Give the car a good going over paying careful attention to 'shopping trolley dents' these can usually be removed easily by a PDR guy for pennies also check the wheels are not curbed, get the dealer to repair any dents / scratched etc FOC.

Is it a maunual or DSG? if the latter check the box is working perfectly as replacement mechatrinic units are £1,500+ (great whilst under warranty.... not so good if you are footing the bill!)

Floor mats are not std on any Superb any more, if it has them great, but MUCH better quality can be bought for less money than the OE ones, so don't buy any from Skoda.

Mudflaps however are cheap and very easy to fit and the OE ones fit perfectly
