TPS / ECP Or take your car to a VAG indy to get the work done!

Or get them from Sere Motors in NI

Same water pump and cambelt kit as an Ibiza Mk4. Got mine from him, along with other service parts at an excellent price.

Relating to this topic there is supposedly a time factor to consider as well as mileage for these replacements.

I have a 2002 Fabia 1.9Tdi estate and had the cam belt, water pump and pulleys changed in Feb.2007 at 37,000 miles as the car was four and a half years old.

It is now almost 5 yrs since that was done and the car has done 72,000 mls(35,000 since new belt etc.).According to VW advice it now should have new belts etc. again due to the time since last replaced, even though the mileage is so little. Is it really that necessary to change all these parts again for fear of possible failure?

It's not just use that knackars them out, temperature, dampness etc all have an effect on the aging process of rubber.

Yup, definately time to get this lot changed again - and maybe add in a new pump as well. Might even be a good time to get the auxiliary belt replaced as well!

Hoping to get mine done in Feb from unit 18. 2005 vRS on 83000 miles and from what I can gather its still the original cambelt. I've checked the belt for wear, no cracks, rub marks and the writing is still on it. Buts cambelt can just go....I know, I've owned a Gti-6 lol.

Is it worth the risk not to?

£350 vs top-end rebuild and possibly more.
