Hi Guys,

As I'm considering getting those (I found a good deal), I would be greatfull for Your first-hand opinions on them. I know they are quite popular with Fabia/Octavia owners, but what about Yeti?

Merlinman is the the only Yeti owner to have them fitted; so far. Although I will be ordering a set in about a week's time. ;):thumbup:

Do they do ones that increase ride height by between 25 & 50mm?

Robin's are 20-30mm lower and I am looking forward to his considered impressions. I have used Eibach springs on two cars and a bike with good results-better ride and handling- so I would expect well of them. I don't think they do ones which raise the ride height and doubt that it would be the best way of achieving greater ground clearance.

I'd guess they involve more than just springs-possibly altering the spring pans/hangers?

Not generally, either spacers or longer springs from what I understand.

Evening all!

I'm very happy with my Eibach's.

The 'drop' isn't as pronounced as I might have expected but the car does sit lower and looks more purposeful. Previously I always felt it sat 'high'.

I'm never likely to use it seriously off road - as I've stated before there are far more suitable 'utility' tools for that :)

The ride/handling is just to my liking. The car rolls less and feels more planted. Some may find the firmer ride not to their liking, but it is by no means 'choppy' or ungiving. Perfect for my brisk driving style and I do not consider my Yeti's off road ability has to any extent been compromised - there's always the RRP to protect me from the odd pebble or tussock.

I did have a possible anxiety about the Xenon headlamps self levelling but they are still working properly and have been checked on a Beamsetter and found to be OK. The Eibach springs may not be suitable for some vehicles with self levelling suspension, but the Yeti is not one of them!

Overall I'm happy and once my front leather seats have been re-upholstered next week I should have a faultless Yeti again :)

As for increasing the ground clearance ....

Thanks Robin! That's what I wanted to hear :yes: It's a bit odd that people don't modify their Yetis - it seems like a perfect candidate for a 4x4 "Family Sportscar"...

Have You measured the actual amount of drop You got?

There are plenty of modified Yeti to one degree or another and it can be a great sporty car.

The limitation is mainly on the availability of tuning parts

There are many modified Yeti on the forum. Take a look at my project. Mine is quite mild compared to Bahnstormers and Merlinmans' Yeti

Take a look around the rest of Briskoda. The Yeti section is like one page in a 1000 page novel.

Each to their own but the Yeti is an inoffensive and unsporting softroader which ,for me , gets the right balance between on road refinement and off road ability.If I wanted something sporty it wouldn't be a Yeti; if I wanted something lower it sure wouldn't be a soft roader.

With a Caterham r400 I would wholly agree with your conclusion-but you are defining "sporty" by comparison with a car which is as near a single seat track car as makes a legal road vehicle.

If you re-calibrate your thoughts to include as "sporty" a Seat Leon Fr and a Mini Cooper "s"-two of my recent vehicles-you might take a different view.

I wasnt really thinking about Sevens as they are hardcore sporty and totally useless as anything other than fun cars. But things like Minis etc, Type Rs, and Fabia VRs are sporty in my terms and are certainly immnesely better at blatting down a B road than a 1500 kilo 4x4. And an MX5 is on a different planet of course.

Ah, but Gentleman, whilst I'm inclined to agree with both of you and I too would like something 'sporty', my previous two cars having been a suspension modified Fabia and an Octavia vRS (modified too), due to a worn and arthritic right hip and arthritic right ankle as well, I need the elevation of a 4x4 (I don't classify Yeti as a 'softroader') and am putting my own degree of 'sporty' into it.

I'm not fussed about the 'drop' of Eibachs, I'm just buying them for their uprated spring rate to give tighter suspension and handling.

Well, after a slight delay in the supply of my Eibachs I had them fitted on Friday and collected Kevin on Saturday. Initial impressions are good with the ride being ever so slightly firmer, but no so much as one would notice (but the 'ride' would be more effected by changing shock absorbers or wheel/tyres) and certainly the general feel of is one of more stability and flatness.

I haven't had any real opportunity to test out the effect on handling but there is noticeably less 'dive' under braking.

Visually, there is a clear difference with less gap around the wheel arches which IMHO makes the car look perfect, with the gap being consistent all the way around the wheels, as opposed to the OE stance where it looks a little high. Matter of personal preference naturally.

Having measured the wheel arch level both before and after, with Kevin parked in the same position and with the same fuel/boot load (spare wheel + 1/3rd tank fuel), the 'drop' works out to be, slightly surprisingly, 40mm front and 25mm rear; but on checking is pretty much spot on with Eibachs figures of 38mm front & 29mm rear (allowing + or - a mm or two for operator error in the measuring). I might hope that the Greenline style lowering will help my fuel consumption as a vast majority of my mileage is on the Motorway.

Haven't checked... better not have done it was my local Skoda dealer who fitted the eibachs for me.
