Turning On/Off DRL in skdoa fabia

Featured Replies

Dear All,

I have written a thread to turn on/off the drl in skoda fabia hope this helps, please let me know if you need any details will create a similar thread asap, my internet is slow so i am not able to create the thread this week:

DRL Activation

I am assuming this is for the Fabia 2 FACELIFT?

On my older Fabia 2, there is a switch in a similar place, just near the fuses but mine just has a hole where the switch would be. this, I assume is because my vehicle didn't have drl's as part of the spec. (Greenline). Not sure why as it was quite an expensive variant and a switch would not make the car heavier! (Greenies are meant to be lighter and lower, among other things, to save fuel)!

I would be grateful if anyone could shed some light (Pun intended) On whether mine can indeed be activated, perhaps by fitting in a switch or is all the hardware missing, too?

Would also like to know if the cornering foglight function could be set up?

Mine has a switch to turn them on or off, so no need to remove fuses

I have not personally scanned a Fabia II so cannot say for sure that it can - BUT they can be enabled on the rest of the Skoda range so there is a good possability (despite what some dealers will tell you  )

Get someone local to you with VCDS to try to change the adaptations

I tried on VAS, but the channel(s) is closed-blocked, as well as other good features available-managable on Octavia etc.

That may be the case with VCDS as well then, but there are several things VCDS can do that VAS (or should that be the operator?) cannot do.

Yes this is for Fabia 2 FACELIFT, the manual tells about a switch from where in we can turn on/off the drl and as well using the indicator switches but this did not work, so i went through the manual and found that there was a fuse to activate/de-activate the drl and this was removed by default by the company(In india DRL are not mandatory), so after figuring out ow to do and after speaking with skoda technical team i did this.

Dear moderator,

Can anyone change the topic name "Turning On/Off DRL in skdoa fabia " {i have misspell SKODA} to "Turning On/Off DRL in skoda fabia"

Thanks

Can I just ask, "Why do you want to turn them off?"

On the GL2 the DRLs can be turned on or off, the method is in the latest handbook but was not included in the early ones.

Activating daylight driving lights on vehicles with “START-STOPâ€

– Switch off the ignition.

– Pull the turn signal light lever towards the steering wheel, at the same time

slide it to the top and hold it in this position.

– Switch on the ignition - wait until the right-turn signal light flashes 4x.

– Switch off the ignition - an audible signal sounds, which confirms the activation

of the daylight driving lights.

– Release the turn signal light lever.

Deactivating daylight driving lights on vehicles with “START-STOPâ€

– Switch off the ignition.

– Pull the turn signal light lever towards the steering wheel, at the same time

slide it to the bottom and hold it in this position.

– Switch on the ignition - wait until the left -turn signal light flashes 4x.

– Switch off the ignition - an audible signal sounds, which confirms the deactivation

of the daylight driving lights.

– Release the turn signal light lever.

Any body who turns off the DRL should ,in the words of jeremy clarkson ,"be shot" ,there is a reason they are there, and i have driven with lights on all the time for 3 years, its becoming compulsory on the european mainland in many countries and saves accidents .

Hi,

DRL are not mandatory all over the world, as far as my country goes they are not mandatory and these are turned off in the cars by skoda and in the near future they will be made mandatory, and more over people flash their hand saying 'lights are on' while we drive, it looks like the fog lamps are on so these are turned off by the manufacturer.

A Big Thank You !

Finally I can activate / deactivate them on my Yeti (compulsory here only on highways from 1 Nov. to 31 Mar.) Wrong procedure written in both Eng.(pdf from Skoda site) and Heb. (booklet) of the Yeti.

Just a slight difference from above when I did it on my Yeti:

- Switched on the ignition - waited until the left / right - turn signal light flashes 4x, then an audible signal sounded, which confirmed the deactivation / activation.

- Released the turn signal light lever.

- Switched off the ignition.

And two questions: (note mine DON'T have MAXIDOT !)

1- How to deactivate / activate "alternative park position of the rear window wiper" ?

2- How to deactivate / activate "leaving home / coming home" function" ? - I like the lights being in AUTO mode but I don't really need this function wich drains battery.

(Greenies are meant to be lighter and lower, among other things, to save fuel)!

Having them on will use more fuel though, not much admittedly but electricity takes energy to produce and that can only come from the fuel.
