Sat Nav and DAB

Featured Replies

Frankly I don't understand all the fuss in this thread about DAB.

DAB is already out-of-date and DAB+ has been the new standard since February 2007. DAB radios are not forward compatible with DAB+. I think Skoda UK have been doing right by customers and waiting until the broadcasters make final decisions for introduction of DAB+ in the UK. :giggle:

Sorry but this is irrelevant and just another excuse SUK can use. DAB+ radios are backwards compatible which is what they should supply anyway.

I'm another that can see no point to the fitting of a DAB (or even DAB+) radios since we have been told it is very unlikely we will ever get the service in Mid Wales.

Personally I think it should be an at cost extra.

Here in NL it's available on an aftermarket Columbus

Can't find any mention of it as standard though

Now that looks like a very neat option! A good find for people that just have to be able to listen to cricket in their cars. :giggle:

Cricket? Is that the ball game that is played by the Pakistanis? :giggle:

Well it is the only reason I can think of wanting to go to all this expense to get DAB in a car... :giggle: I don't want DAB so your view on cricket is about the same as mine.

I've not heard of Skoda about to start offering as an option DAB.

This has been discussed at great length by some members of Briskoda who won't order a Skoda until they can have DAB.

The Columbus is a great unit, but unless you are going to use the sat Nav part several times a day, then I would suggest go with Tom Tom and a Brodit mount.

I have a Columbus and it is a great piece of kit, I use it several times a day visiting different clients, rarely going to the same place twice. I beats having to remove the Tom Tom, take it with you, clean the windscreen etc. I think it is a better head unit than the Bolero as well, and it displays the time.

I had one in my previous Octavia as well.

It is expensive, but I use mine every day. It is the best Sat Nav that VW, Seat & Skoda use in my opinion.

Hello,

occasional lurker on here.

I had the option of a range of cars from either VW, Audi or Skoda as a company vehicle.

Chose a VW Passat Sport over a Skoda Superb Elegance - just, as DAB not available on the Superb.

After having a Mondeo which had DAB as Standard in 2008 I found I really liked having DAB in the car as I listen to Absolute, Radio 5 and Planet Rock (not at the same time though!)

Overall the DAB reception is very good - better than the Ford and in combination with the satellite navigation system has proved to be very good indeed.

I highly rate Skodas and presently on the company car list there is the choice of Yeti's (Elegance) and Octavia Scouts so maybe next time (2 years to go) when they sort out the DAB radio / sat nav availability!!
