Remap advice

Featured Replies

I heard a few good things about this company and got me to thinking.

Both me and the Wife have Fabia VRS's (old shape diesel variety) and we do between 20k and 30k each per year. I've been swapping emails with the chap who runs it and he claims 40bhp / 75nm gains and 10% up on mpg. I'm not really fussed about the extra power (although will be nice) but more arsed about the extra mpg. He has said he would do a deal on the pair for £450 which with a 10% mpg increase would pay it self back in around 10 months and then start saving us money.

Dilemma???

Is 10% mpg increase realistic (75% of all our miles are motorway).

The wife's car only has 32k which is fine but mine has 163k and still on it's first clutch - i feel i'm tempting fate.

Experiences, thoughts????

I do most of my milage on motorways- around 75%. Doing a sensible speed between 65-75 (cruise control) my MPG hasnt altered at all. I've put this down to the colder weather at the moment. As long as you don't thrash it the clutch should be ok. But obviously will wear at a quicker rate.

Hope this helps.

Ive no experience with that company thou.

Thanks for the input. No mpg increase would put a complete stop to my plans. Anyone else have similar experience?

However I have found that when driven carefully around town the mpg does increase slightly. I've only had a map for less than a month and since had very cold weather so maybe the car isn't running to full efficiency. I'm hoping or some gains in mpg come the milder and better weather :)

I wouldn't get too much hope up on improved mpg. Well not 10% anyway.

It won't be 40bhp increase either. More like 20-30bhp.

That's a bit of an arse - if no real mpg gains are to be had then it can only be a good thing for my clutch :D

A few people i know have used this guy http://www.ecuflash.co.uk/

They are custom maps and they can travel to you.

My mate had a remap by him on his PD100 and got 700 miles to a tank on a run to Scotland and back

Only recommending as you're mainly wanting economy and this guy maps trucks (mpg) for a living

Best thing to do is discuss with him the possibilities.

Hope this helps

Simon
