Favorit/felicia suspension

Featured Replies

Hi can anyone help me, i'm after a front pair off coilovers for my favorit rally car. I need them within next 2 weeks whether used or know where i can get new from. thanks

mk 4 fiesta are the same on the front

lukeys are you sure, i believe it's last generation escort/focus dampers that will very slight fiddling that will fit in.

perhaps one of the felly guru's could step in here, in case i have put my foot in it

I think you'll have to look for alternatives, Mark - there just aren't any secondhand parts available really - I've seen two sets (one Bilstein, one Proflex) for sale in the 6 years I've had Skodas, and I bought both of them. I'd not bother with used unless they are quality and have been serviced - stuff like HP isn't really serviceable and if it goes then that's that. As said above, there are alternatives and being Ford it'll be much cheaper to get something half decent.

Are you doing tarmac or forestry?

just to enterpret the tarmac or forestry question in a rude way, i prefer a bit of forestry, what about you Mr Chela

although i have rallied on tarmac plenty ;-)

yes the focus ones fit but there isnt enough thread to put the top mount on. i use escort mk 5 ones on mine and there is 3 inches of thread left after putting the felly top mount on

Quite a few of the ford ones will do the front, sierra/escort mk5/focus will fit in the hub and you may need to do something with the topmounts.

My rally car used escort cosworth GPA uprights with an adaptor I had made to fit them to the skoda hubs (50mm down to 45mm) and AVO 40mm inserts with adjustable damping.

easy and fairly cheap if you can find any old bilstein type legs I have a couple of spare adaptors here doing nothing.

Having had HP on both of my first cars, I'd do what Jim says and try to get something better on there - certainly I found the Bilsteins were a world better than HP (although the HP I had on the second car were tired, they weren't knackered and still had plenty of damping). Transformed the car, but then Proflex totally changed it - it's become much more of a proper rally car now it has decent, well damped suspension. Not only in terms of taking bumps well, but it just has so much more grip as the wheels are in contact with the ground more; the back end is brilliant in comparison to before. But then they're £4500 new! (No, I didn't pay anything near that!). But back on topic, if you can get a pair of new HPs all in for £350 (aluminium racing ones, not the steel "road" ones) then that's pretty good for new stuff.

Sonner - forestry all the way for me.

I think this is the only pic I have of the bottom of mine
