Water leak

Featured Replies

Hi all.. 1st time to use this forum! Hope someone can help me please. Have a 2003 octavia estate and lately I've started to notice the front passenger seat wet when it's raining. Have check checked the door seal around the body of the car and see no visible damage, yet rain seems to still get in.. It seem like its coming in along the top of the door! There's no wear on the door hinges or damage to the door.. Are octavias prone to rain getting by the door seal and does the seal just pull away from the body or are there clips holding it in place?

Any advice is greatly appreciated-thanks

Does your car have a sunroof?

Any stainings /watermarks / dampness on the roof lining?

Has a replacement windscreen been fitted?

To get water on the seat from the door seal it would suggest the rain must be travelling at a reasonable angle.... are you sure the window isn't open :wonder:

Welcome to Briskoda, btw

Hi,

I've just joined the site too, after treating myself to a 2003 VRS Estate just before Christmas... Guess what - I had exactly the same problem, mine was getting wet all the way through. I first noticed it the first time my son sat in the back, and complained of a wet bum, and then I noticed the drivers footwell was soaking too...

I got some really good advice off the lads on this site, which payed off - mine was basically crammed full off **** under the bonnet, where the rain water's supposed to run off (don't think it had ever been cleaned/checked from new)... You can't neccessarily see it, but all the crap builds up, blocks the run off, and then the water's got no-where to go but into the car...

I took mine to Skoda as I was having an overhaul, and the coilpacks done... It cost me about another £125 on top of everything, to have it cleaned out, dried, and then re-sealed... Touch wood it's been fine since...

Hope this helps mate...
