It might be my eyes, but is that a hammer!!! :giggle:

Where did you use that???? I had 1 ratchet, and extension bar, 3 sockets and a torx bit lol

  • Author

 It's not a DIY job unless you've used a hammer.

The two locking pins under the bumper were a pain to remove, so used the claw bit of the hammer to pull them out like a nail.

I'll remember that for the next time something needs, "persuaded"

Cheers for adding me into the timings too, although its made me want to get near the top now haha! Time to start saving for the intercooler..... :bandit:

After my first outing to the 1/4 mile I finally decided that I should go back to my induction kit and re-arrange it to avoid heat soak as much as possible.

It's a bit DIY at the moment, but I'm thinking about either laminating the silver pipe in carbon fibre, or somehow creating a mould of it and creating a carbon fibre pipe.... Would be pretty cool I think.

Anyway, please excuse the duct tape as the silver pipe was just a fraction too wide compared to the pipecross vipers inlet.

Had my car on the rolling road at Falklands Performance in Glenrothes today with there Maha dyno. Good chaps!

Pushing 206bhp which is fantastic.

I tested the car with the OEM factory airbox (no pic, but have a dyno print out) and I was getting peak 202bhp, with the pipercross viper a peak of 206bhp. Not a lot, but more the merrier! I also had a peak increase of 3 tourques over the oem airbox with a maximum of 214lbf.ft using the pipercross viper.

They suggested that to help prevent heat soak wrap the aluminuim pipe in exhaust pipe wrap to help reduce heat soak. I might do this, then fibreglass over the whole lot and paint it to make it look rather sexy.

New wheel day!!

2012-04-05121709.jpg

When will it end aha!

Think they will look the nuts. Really like them. Whats the ET/sizes and weight?

  • Author

15' wheels ET35 and they weigh about 6kg I didnt think they'd be so light picking them up

Oooooo me likey!! What tyres they being wrapped in ?

15'' look bit small imo, 16'' would look better but will wait til they're fitted! :)

Personally, 17'' is perfect but if you're slamming it I guess 15'' will give better lows!

Not really, 205/40R17s have the same rolling radius as 205/50R17 tyres, it has to be done this way legally as the speedo stays correct this way, so it will still only lower the same amount. My only reservation is thats alot of tyre well to flex when cornering.  How come you have gone for such a small rim?  was it 1/4 mile related, or is this an everyday preference.I lke the idea of 16" though, that is something i might look at if the 330mm discs ft under them ok

  • Author

1/4mile and every day preference is why I went with the smaller wheels. Not only that the smaller the wheel the lighter they are! . I'm not going to track it, or if I do it will probably be once or twice so tyre flex isn't that much of an issue for me.

they'll be getting wrapped in Maxsport RB5's. The bargain basement of semi-slick tyres!

Oooooo not a bad combo, will they grip enough with 15s on? Didn't know if the power would spin them more even with the slicks

How much were all x4 wheels?

Very interested to see the results :)

They should do. Well I have no real idea, but from looking at most touring cars and rally cars none of them have huge wheels. They all tend to be about 15/16 inch with big tyres. Especially on drag racing cars that were originally road cars. They have huuge tyres but the actual wheels are usually pretty small.

the alloys were a bargain on ebay for £200 for all four. I originally wanted Team Dynamics Pro Rallys in white, but my phone lost connection before I could bid :( The tyres were £330 all in, just waiting for them to show up and get them fitted.
