Thanks for the info - hope to do something similar the next time I get in the track.

By the way is it me or you got a crease on the arch just above the front tyre? what happened there?

There is yes... I was following a friend driving at about 20mph on a large grassy park when for a barbeque we were having in it. I didn't notice a sharp dip in the grass and the bumper took a bite out of the grass. I thought the bumper had come off from the noise it made. I was nearly crying :(

I was hoping you'd of been at crail so I could have seen side by side.

I was going to go but i had been off work sick that week and my supervisor was going so thought i better not bother :(

This is my blog / project / moan thread about my 2011 Fabia vRS.

July 2011 I went to go look at a Ford Capri 2.8i, ended up buying the vRS instead. I was orignally planning on getting an all black vRS with the polished wheels, but I'd still be waiting till Feburary 2012 for it.

The Dealers were due in a new Demo car, Rallye green with bluetooth, climate control, red interior and a few other lovely bits.

Anyway!

Here she is on the day of delivery, all nice and new..

I quickly set about changing over the indicators to silvertec bulbs and changing the interior bulbs to LED's and a green festoon to match the exterior

Skoda Fabia OEM mudflaps were fitted about a week later. The cars arse gets dirty as it is, this "helps" a bit haha. Sets the car off nicely I think.

very nice mate loving the numerplate :D

Wheels are looking fit! What have you done with the original Gigaros?

  • Author

Kept them. I only use those TD's for track use. Didnt want to melt away my road tyres.

Edit:

I should probably post this up too.

With my induction kit I used a flexable aluminium pipe to flex around the battery and to the oem air scoop point. I used a universal air scoop duct from demon tweeks and taped it up for a rough idea on sizes

To prevent heat soak I wrapped the ally pipe in exhaust pipe wrap I got off a mate for free and used fibreglass resin to make a single ridgid pipe.

Resined the top to create a "spine" so I could remove it then resin the whole thing without loosing its shape.

Not the prettiest but works well!

Nice mod bud, car is coming along a treat!

What's next?

  • Author

Nothing now tbh. Might get the hybrid turbo next year but as for now its finished. If I can pick up a cheap ITG I'll swap to that but I dont count on it.

I'm looking to start building a VW Beach buggy though! I finish college on Thursday and thats me completed the whole course. So over summer I was looking for a bit of a project and the air cooled vw engines are pretty easy to work on and take apart. Plus they're tax exempt!

two seperate incidents on missfires in cylinder 1 & 2 during some 1/4mile action today. tmc on setting 7...

any ideas? dodgie spark plugs? only time its ever happened apart from when i booted it whwn it.wasnt fully warmed up.

fastest time today was 14.08. beat a gtr r32 which made my day. along with your usual suspects of type r's and corsa vxrs.

gotta say you lot with the hybrids need to get it working i want more power!!!! hahaha.

Have you read the codes bud?

What temp was the car running the oil at when it happened?

  • Author

P301 and P302 I think the codes were from Torque

The cars oil was at 88°C. What are the recommended replacement spark plugs? My annual service is due at the Start of July so I'll see if I can get them to put new plugs in while they're at it.

Cheers. I'll pick them up before my servicing. Gotta say I wish it wasn't so damn cold and windy up here! I want to get some proper good times but I cant cause of the super head winds or its bloody freezing so dont get grip!

Clearly I need to move to the south of france haha!

Then it would overheat alot i would imagine.......least the air up here is cooler and denser which is better for performance

A daily nice balmy 20°C.... Lovely!

Pop down to Santa Pod one weekend bud :) or are you going to GTI International?

  • Author

Bit of a trek for me and my mileage limit is fairly tight. Only got 800 miles left to spare until the 7th of july. I'll be alright by 1/200 but im gonna ask to get it raised by another 2k.

If I can I'll pop down near August time. Would be a good weekend away.

more miss fires yesterday. cylinders 3 and 4 this time. it was under fairly brisk acceleration coming out a 30 to a 60 but not foot to the floor.

I h ad the TMC box on setting 1 since the last episode, mainly to conserve on fuel rather than avoid the spark plug issue, so it looks like the box isn't the root cause of it like I suspected. It has no doubt shortened the life of the spark plugs as most stage 1 cars tend to eat the standard plugs.

With that, its new plug time. anyone got a guide how to change them??

Well after a good meet up with some of the scottish members they got a "sneak" at my latest purchase.

Very nice mate, this is the one I'd go for over the proper one ITG do for it.

I so wanted that ITG kit for mine but £400+ inc VAT I just couldn't afford it! Love the progress mate, been to the dealer about misfiring?

  • Author

I couldn't either, but I got very lucky on ebay haha!

Not yet, Grizzle on here was good enough to let me have a set of those NGK plugs so I'll get them fitted when it cars in for its service. I the missfires might have been due to a cronic lack of oil in the car. I just checked before I went to Crail again yesterday, and well.. It was pretty much empty. As in, any longer and I reckon new engine time... Topped up 2l of magnetec as its all I had left.

How does the intake sound?:D

  • Author

Pretty good! the blow off noise is even more noticeable now than it was before and a bit more of a roar but not too much more than the pipercross made.

Not impressed at all with the tumble dryer pipe work though and you have to have the intake angled down slightly to get it to fit between the battery.

Ap - the car will peep and give you a low oil warning light when it gets on the round orange bit. Takes 1L from that to full apparently.
