HI I HAVE A SKODA OCTAVIA 1.9TDI THAT WILL NOT START AFTER I PARKED IT AND WENT BACK TO IT.I HAVE CHECKED THE TIMING IT IS SPOT ON CHECKED FOR FUEL AT THE INJECTORS AND FUEL IS COMING UP DURING CRANK.IT DOES TRY TO START ON 1ST TURN OF KEY BUT WILL NOT.I HAVE CHECKED EVERYTHING I CAN BUT I AM NOW LOST AS TO WHAT TO TRY.CAN ANYONE HELP ME OUT PLEASE?

No need to shout! Welcome to Briskoda though.

How did you check the timing, as I would assumed that would require the engine to be running? Have you scanned the car for fault codes? Any lights flashing on the dash?

My first thought would be an immobilizer fault, or maybe a semi-flat battery which is causing the starter motor not to spin fast enough. Therefore try with a different key, and/or with jump leads from another car.

Also worth checking that the anti-shudder valve in the EGR assembly isn't in the closed position as that will stop air getting in.

No worries (re: shouting).

If you have a timing kit, then I am assuming you are reasonably handy. When was the last time any work was done on the car? Was it running well last time it worked?

I would try a jump start and/or different key.
