How to remove gear knob

Featured Replies

Well, my piece of leather which is below the gear knob was all ripped off, and now i want to get a new one. The seller told me that i must remove gear knob and then put the piece of leather. I tried once but i dont know how to do it and i dont want to break anything. Any suggestions?

The gear knob just unscrews, the leather gaiter has a plastic base which just clips to the centre console lower panel it should just come out if you give it a pull.

The gear knob itself unscrews.

:giggle: beat you to it.

DAMN YOU! Stop posting on here and finish your bloody 1.8T conversion.

ive come up against a slight technical issue that's stopped play on that one sadly which i cannot solve...

My gear knob broke up into bits ( I had tried to tighten by screwing with no effect, as it was loose) ,

and the stick broke through and  protruded through it AAAGGHH.

None round my my local breakers and the dealer reported they are no longer stocked.

Got one for £15 ( FFS) delivered via 247 online breaker agents, its arrived OK today

in excellent knick complete with unrequested leather gaiter also in excellent knick ,

can't complain I suppose.

The actual breaker was Germanbitz ( .co.uk).

247 gave several more, more expensive quotes.

It worked for me anyway.

There is no screw thread on my stick or as supplied knob internal ?

Just shove it on I suppose ..

If it's loose, then it's loose , ..

I have two Felicia gear knobs both in good condition, if interested please contact me.

I now realize that the internal screw was too high to be seen in the gear knob.

And the gear stick thread was hidden by a screw on cap which would have been

internal to the gear knob. I had tried to unscrew but it wouldn't shift previously, so I thought it just didn't have a thread. So with more force it came off to reveal a threaded shaft at the top.

DUH. :)
