A quick poll to help guide me in the right direction. I've been given a choice of company cay (albeit a pathetic one!) which includes just three vehicles.

These three cars are fixed so please don't make any other additional suggestions as I do not have the luxury other than the three miserable choices listed. To make matters even worse I cannot add ANY extras at all, NOTHING!! I'm even restricted on colours, the VW and Ford I can have metalic as long as its Black, Grey or Silver and the Audi can ONLY be had in solid Black paint!

I suppose I should be grateful to be in a position of having a company vehicle (even if the choice is this limited) so it would be very helpful if you would cast a vote and make any comment to help me make this choice,

Least its 140bhp and not some bluemotion thing

A3 here too

VW Golf Match, mainly due to the extras that are standard

Golf for me, the MK6 is much better than the MK5 IMO.

The Golf will have a higher spec for the same money as the Audi, making it IMO a no brainer.

The A3, no question.

The focus would be out for me straight away and i would always go for higher spec than badge

so Golf for me.

The exact reason I have my Superb Elegance over the Passat S that was on my list.

Golf 2.0TDi. Mark 6 golfs attempt amazing iMO. I'm not as keen on the A3 however I'm sure it's still got its pros. Take them both for test drives down at a local garage!

Thanks for the votes and comments so far, it's going as I'd expected tbh.

The Audi is a classy choice but it niggles me that it's being replaced with a new model later this year. The Focus is the best handling (as Babs pointed out) but it's gutless with the 1.6 aga under the bonnet which leaves the Golf, arguably the best spec but a tad boring!

All choices are flawed in one way or another!

If it was me i would go for the Audi.

I went Audi.

The interior on the new Focus is awful I had a look at one the other day.

They have tried to go all space age like Honda did a few years ago with the civic but I dont think it works.

Loads of buttons on the dash for Phone and the like but it looks cheap and tacky.

I would pick the Audi. The only trouble with audi's is that virtually everything is optional, but still a nice car though.

Not much in it tbh.

My Dad has the Focus and it's actually very nice to drive and has a reasonable amount of poke. Will almost certainly have more toys than the other two.

Toss up between the VW and the Audi, so voted for the VW in the end as a lot of Audi drivers are considered c0cks these days.

Son has the Audi a3 sport back it's a peach on motorways and good fuel , way better than the other 2 IMO , just in case anyone seems to think this opinion is truthful or otherwise

The Match has a lot of toys which you can't add.

If it had been a higher spec focus, I'd had said the focus, but as it stands I'd say the golf.

The Audi won't have any toys and at the end of the day it's only an A3, so it's just a golf with rings on it.

I think so many people run right up to their budget with options that they have to pick a non-metallic colour. The ones at work are all black or white

Between the Golf and A3 for me...

The A3 looks nicer so I'd sacrifice the higher spec of the Golf and go for the A3.

I'd go for the golf because its less likely to be replaced by a new shape while you have it.

The Audi A3 does in my opinion look rather dated having not realy changed for a long time.

The other issue I have with the audi you've been given the ability to choose is it lacks the quattro which is audi's Unique selling point within the VAG group.

Also if you can get metalic paint on the golf its worth more than the audi
