Featured Replies

right, just been to the dealers, eibach lowering springs (20mm) supplied and fitted by them £348 all inclusive (VAT ect ect) , I may get them done when I'm in to have my summer tyres back on, end of march ish for the WSM meet :)

AND filled up by the garage, and set my average mpg and drove into cockermouth town center.. (8 miles of A roads and roundabouts, then into the town, traffic lights carpark ect..)

Diesel + Greenline !!! That's not a fair competition!

53 is brilliant! I'm averaging a consistent 60mpg in my 1.9tdi fabia. :)

Me and my dad have a bit of banter about who can get better economy lol!

I know, mine is slower, noiser and the dash is not as good. :D

springs not fitted yet, just getting a price, and waiting for some reviews on here of what they are like.. may get tghem on when I have my summer tyres back on...

*no comment on the cockermouth! :p

Thats very good!! not far off my average runs in the TDI 1.9! for almost double the power! :)

My 2002 Honda Insight did 83 mpg average on unleaded, 66 mpg around town and the best I got was 117 mpg cross country.

I don't get triple digit mpg now but spend more time at triple digit speeds!

Most impressive! Highest I've ever seen was about 45mpg but using fuelly it worked out to be 48mpg which I was happy with. Think I need to check my tyre pressures tonight. The last few days economy has dropped a bit. Handling I can't tell much but I haven't been pushing that hard. What pressures are people using?

I reset my MPG counter after ever fill up... im averaging 42 currently, car only had 2500 miles on though so fingers crossed it will improve over time

My average 25mpg at the moment

47 is good to newcsastle though, proves it will do the average skoda say it will :) I know the route well, doing transferes from west cumberland to newcastle ;) not the easiest of journeys.

I kept up with the traffic, and didn't brake for the roundabouts ;)

I know what you mean

Shark... I got my Eibachs for £125 then fitted for £100 mate... stealer's stealing again lol

It's pretty difficult to get a 'true' average with any car.

If you reset the average trip whilst about to go on a long journey (A roads & Motorway for example) yeah, I can even get a decent figure. But if the trip is reset, then you are predominately going around town with stop & start, then obviously you'll never get a great figure. But at the end of the day, for me this experiment is a little bit of a waste of time. I really do get the 'idea' of seeing just how far the VRS can go on it's fuel, but it's best left for the diesel boys who love to keep their eyes on the MPG computer.

The VRS TSi is meant to be used as it was intended and not to be pootled around in, hoping that it was an economical choice.

If I average 30mpg with some fun thrown in, then I'm happy with that. emoticon-0148-yes.gif If I'm not, I'll get the diesel & slippers emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

lol its all down hill from Long Mile to Cockermouth, still good going though. I once got just over 52 between whitehaven and Sellafield (12.5 mile) again a lot of drop in hight. No idea how i did it normally get somewere between 39-43 on that trip and never got anywhere close to 52 before or since.

ouch that's a lot of money,i am getting eibachs for my estate, they lower front 30mm rear 20mm think they are about £150 and £0 to fit thanks to a great mate.

Fantastic mpg by the way best i have got is mid 60s so far but i have yet to really try.
