Skoda Customer Services

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Just had my mobile phone bill in it had £10 of charges from my two calls to Skoda Customer Services as it is an 0845 number. I hadn't noticed when I called it and had stupidly assumed that it was a local rate alternative that most dealerships seem to be using these days. I am obviously a bit annoyed at the charges given that I'm only calling them to try and get a fault fixed on my car.

Also even if you are using a land line the 0845 Skoda Customer service number is chargeable but VW customers get an 0800 number which isn't chargeable. How does that work when we are phoning the same place?

1/

How can you not notice you are ringing an 0845 number?

2/

Because VAG have decided that is the way they want to do it.

I'm sure that when I was in discussion about my "problem" I had a normal number to ring them, but then I first got in touch by email, and they mostly rang me.

When I've had to contact c/s in the past I've asked them to ring me back and they have, instantly.

Try 01908 601 601 - curtesy of 'www.saynoto0870.co.uk'

SayNoTo0870.com lists various alternatives for Skoda UK, including 020 8288 2441, 01908 601601, and 01908 548000. I haven't checked whether these work.

In cases like this I often call the company and just ask for the geographical number.

Isn't that what happens when you call any 0845 number from a mobile? That's what landlines are for. Or look for an 033 number which should give geographic rates from all phones (within the UK at least).

0845 numbers _are_ different from premium rate numbers like 0870. There are good historic reasons why companies used to use 0845 numbers - they always used to be cheaper than geo numbers when called from a landline plus they could easily be rerouted from office to office so as to remain contactable eg out of hours. But the mobile networks refused to play ball. So it's really the mobile telcos that you need to complain to.

By the same priciple, I heard some time ago about the separate policys on transmission warranty claims. One had a replacement and the other a repair policy.

BTW should this be moved to a more non Yeti place?

I have the 'www.saynoto0870.co.uk' app on my iPhone and always use that before calling 0845 numbers. "Problem" sorted.

Johann, I have noticed over the last few months, is a jolly clever bloke. Some really cracking posts. Loved your collection checklist – all printed out and ready to go next week. Top Man.
