vrs insuance

Featured Replies

hiya i am looking to get a fabia vrs i was wondering what are the best insurance companies for a young driver to get insured on a fabia vrs

i am only 19 and companies won't accept my no claims bonus :/ because its on a classic car policy?

any help is aprichated and btw I'm a full time uni student aswell

Best bet is to go get some quotes tbh. Every situation is different.

I used admiral multi car and insured my dad's with them as well, brought my quote down from £3000 (with companies like the post office, quinn etc.) to around £1600.

Well in general Elephant Admiral and Hasting are around the cheapest and are all part of the same company. But like all insurance they are only as good if you are unfortunate to make a claim. My experience with Hastings part of that group on a no fault claim I was rear ended when stopped at a roundabout was terrible. They just passed me on to a third party to handle the claim and hire me a car and make as much money out of the claim as possible. In the end has to get in touch with the insurance ombudsman to sort it out.A simple no fault claim took 8 months before they paid me out so beware cheapest it not always best when it comes to car insurance.

one way to drop you premium is to have it in your name and have both your parents as names drives took 2k off my premium, as both my parents use my car at times it seemed logical, i didnt know there was a financial benefit until after however DO NOT have the car in your parents name when you are the named drive you will get screwed!

i had a road traffic officer pull me over and ask for my name, to which i obliged, and then he went on to go on about how its not my car and the insurance isnt in my name yada yada yada and how my insurance company would be so happy to know i was driving the car around as my main car when i supposidly wasnt the named driver, his smugness and complete c**tishness dissapeared when i pulled out my insurance documents with my name, and the vc5 in, guesss whatt .... my name!!

would have thought the on board computer would have corrected this monkey ..... oh how wrong i was! looked even more sheepish when i started to take details of the incident when he refused to give me a stop notice taking down badge numbers, times, roads, registration number etc. i then went on my merry way back to the police station to make a formal complaint :D

being young and having a nice car is not an excuse to be pulled over, its what you can get by having two jobs and working all the hours! i was doing 47mph in a 50mph zone so eratic driving was not an issue either.

sorry to go off on a tangent i fully support the police, i work side by side with them in the leisure industry but they need to get the bumholes out!!!

in my rant i also forgot to mention (the only bit of real use) i switch between admiral and elephant because they are the cheapest and also under cut each other :)

I'm 19 with my VRS SE, 19 with 2 years NCB and my insurance was £2k last year with Admiral multicar (2 cars) with my mum & dad as named drivers.

They've never actually driven my car and I don't plan on letting them :p

Im 19 have an 06 vRS my insurance was £1880 that was with myslef as the main driver and my parents as named. I dont have aby no claims, however i have held my licence for two years and havent got any points or crashed. Ohhh and im with Elephant.co.uk. My one peice of advice is: if you want to modify your car like i did! Dont go with them as they wanted £500 for the adition of just a remap and tey wouldt insure me at all if i installed lowering springs/coilovers!

Hope this helps,

Ilmor

Im 19 and was previously driving a Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 for which I paid £800 up front. When I bought the vRS a few weeks ago I just changed the car on the policy and had to pay an extra of £200 which I was surprised by how little the difference was between a 1.2 16v (58ish BHP) to the 1.9Tdi. I'm the main driver and my mum is also on the insurance but having her on didn't effect the quote, she is only on there purely for emergency reasons haha. I have 2 years N.C.B which helped.

See I could pay 1500 in one up about 150 a month on monthly but I can't seem to get near that best quote I had was for 2400 with flux direct

Even though they quoted me 1100.79 and I have reference number but the quote has been lost on the system aprantly I even know that it was with highway thought flux direct

Another thing that ****es me off is my friend is geting a seat Leon fr 150 an he is looking at about 1600 insurance.

It's so annoying and my post code is ment to have cheaper insurance than his :( I'm haveing really bad luck I suppose....

Don't know what to do I want a nice looking standing out tdi car but dno what to get I'm sick of fueling my beetle any ideas on other cars cheap to insure that have nice style/character????

Im with admiral. Got my vRS when I was 19 insured FC for £1400 with no points or NCB. But I did have a hefty claim against me.

Gone down each year quite a bit. I'm 22 now and it's £700 but since me and missus bought a house in November were getting their multi car policy which is £1000 with the vRS and her MR2.....considering alone with me on her policy is about £1200.

For us no one can touch Admiral.

i was 19 when i got my vrs in june, and Admiral gave me insurance fully comp for around £900 - everything in my name with parents added as named drivers for the odd occasion when they take the car. i was pleasantly surprised, as was the guy on the other end of the phone when i took out the policy!

i had 1 year no claims (actually 22 months but they only count the nearest year and i couldnt wait 2 months to get the full 2 years!) at the time (back in june) i was 19, a uni student in full time education, i think i was quite lucky! maybe it is because i am down as living on the isle of wight that it is so low? i dont know how the island compares to the rest of the country for insurance!

I think Elephant offer a year NCD for every 10 months your with them! - wud be useful if u want to build up your NCD mate

You have to be aware that a lot of other companies do not accept the quicker squired no claims bonuses

How would they know that that it is the quicker acquired NBC tho.

When they ask for proof of nO claims they check with your old insurer and what paperwork you provide

It's so gutting if found the perfect car I need to get insurance now for about 2k I total paying monthly and then I can get that beutifull vrs

I am 18 ATM but 19 when I wana insure the car will insurance go down soon as I turn 19 even though I'm doing quotes to start when I'm 19??

Its about how long you have held your full licence for. Thats what i waited for, so that i had held my licence for two years. Droped about a grand off my quote. Got my vRS a month before i took out the insurance, it was hard just to look at it and not drive it...

Classic car policies don't raise a NCB.

Also concerned that you got a classic policy at 19? Most places want over 25's...

I bought my VRS as I didn't want to been seen as a young boy racer, but this thread is making me realise that under 20's have caught on to my cunning plan and are snapping up VRS

Please don't wrap them round lamp posts lads or crash into anything!!!

Its a low insurance group ATM, let's keep it that way!!!

Also I don't want to be a boy racer because I love my cars and that's why I want a skoda because I want a prestige German price of engineering I would never have any other car apart from a VAG built one to be honest
