what else to do? maintenance/mods

Featured Replies

hi all, I have a 2004 fabia vrs on 74k with fssh, Iv had the car for 4 weeks and really like it! I bought it to be sensible and to keep standard,...

anyway its going into unit 18 in a few tweeks, it was in 2 weeks ago for an oil service,

its going in for..

remap

eibach pro lowering springs

jabba rarb

oe air & pollen filter

just wondering what else is worth having done whilst its in? im thinking along the lines of maintenance/Polly bushing, I like to do mods that make a difference/need doing,

im open to any suggestions, nothing major though!

Thanks

Rich

forgot to say that the car is standard bar octavia front brake set-up

Thanks

Rich

I know it's not possible for all of these things - but if I were going, I'd watch them - see if I could learn a lot of the simple things (like the filters, the RARB) so that I could do it myself in the future and save a few £££.

Guess bushes could make sense though, save needing to do tracking twice, but I'm not sure how much extra work will be needed if it's just changing it for the sake of it.

cheers for that, yea im more that capable of doing the filter & rarb, I just don't have much time and whilst its in there on the ramps its just easyer for them to do it all! RARB has been sitting in my garage for a few weeks,

Fitting the front wish bone rear bushes from an Ibiza cupra or the revised vw ones would be good. Ifbit still has the original ones from 7 years ago they're quite likely to be knackered!

The bushes are only around £15 for the pair. It's up to you then if you want to go the whole hog with front powerflex/super pro wishbone bush, anti roll bar bush and a dogbone bush which should make your shifts more positive but possible a little more in cab vibration.

ok cheers for that, is the fitting time consuming on them?

Rich

You might aswell do the console bushes since the suspensions coming off, think +2 hrs tops (more likely to be 1.5 tbh). Unless you have time/skills to do it yourself.

Top mounts?

Bump stops?

Dampers? :giggle:

Maybe new dampers with the springs? some say the ride is not great with just lowering springs...

^ cheers,

Iv considered Eibach dampers but your looking at £500 with the springs, which is more than I want to spend on this car unfortuantly, (im budgeting on this car!) It wont be driven too hard anyway & my Parents will also be using the car if the move to france goes ahead,

Il speak to them about the console bushes then

Cheers

Rich
