The Alarm + Park Assist. To the Dealer on Monday.

And they call that Park Assist? lol

If you use park assist to park in a really tight space woe betide you if one of the other cars goes first, if they do not have bumper sensors they may use the "contact method" with their bumpers to get out.

The 'contact method' seems to be what all French drivers learn and use. My heart is in my mouth every time I leave my SM parked in anything resembling a tight space in France!

Nice one!

No that is incorrect. You need not indicate to park in the UK on the passenger side. Once you press the PA button you will see the image appear in the Maxidot showing it is searching for spaces on the left (without indicating). If you do indicate left, nothing changes on the Maxidot. But indicate right and you will see the parking spaces in the pictogram flipping over to the driver's side. Indicating is the ONLY way to find spaces on the driver's side.

Just had a chance to retry - now I am sure what I am doing !

Pressed PA button - Maxidot shows searching for spaces on the RIGHT hand side. ( No indicator on)

Indicated left - display switches to show searching and finding spaces on Left hand side.

So will mention it to dealer for fixing sometime , unless there is a country, LHD/RHD setting somewhere I have missed ?

Anyway look forward to using PA in earnest sometime.

OK then it is wrong for sure!!! Weird. They must have set the car's country to be something other than the UK! My car is set to be in Australia for other reasons (which drives on the same side as us thankfully).

  • 2 weeks later...

All sorted, went to the dealers to pick up some steel wheels and winter tyres which were on order. They did a download for updating the power assistance module which apparently was important and printed out lots of data for SKODA for my Park Assist problem.

Apparently they re-programmed the Park Assist but as it didnt tell them anything was changed they werent hopeful.

But it now works correctly , possibly the towbar reprogramming upset it when I took delivery.

Thanks for confirming there was a problem - the garage had no other Skoda with PA to compare with.
