SEAT option prices vs Skoda's

Featured Replies

I've just read this on CAR magazine re their new SEAT Alhambra MPV. The options seem miles and miles cheaper than what you pay for on a Yeti (apologies don't really know the prices on other Škodas).

£450 for Sound System upgrade AND Park Assist... vs £390 for Sound System and £505 for the Park Assist on the Yeti. Total: £895

£795 for the panoramic sunroof (which is the exact same one my car has) AND upgraded alloys... vs £1,065 and an additional £100 for an alloy wheel upgrade on the Yeti. Total: £1,165

The £445 heated windscreen does cost more though but then the Alhambra windscreen must be much bigger than my Yeti's (on which this option is £225).

The only comprable one is the £295 for heated front seats and heated washer jets on the SEAT... vs £230 on the Yeti for the seat heaters only. You can't even get heated washer jets on the Yeti, though they are just £50 on the Superb.

I've not looked at what VW or Audi charge for the same things. Will be interesting to see the differences in price between the identical VW Up! and SEAT Mii options.

I missed that but was obviously still in a state of utter shock that the 3 series had won a Car magazine group test in this issue.

Now I don't need to be Derrin Brown to forecast how the M5 will fare in next months group test do I......?

Cynical Moi.....

Vag wants people to buy more seats, was a rumor that vag were gonna sell seat at one point as they are not selling many cars at all. Hence prices of options. Must admit all the seats on sale today look crap to me apart from the people carrier

Seat car sales are through the floor, they need to do something to improve sales, the Alhambra is a terrible car and to shift them they need to price things cheap and even then they are struggling.

Well Skoda do the same with thier own cars.

Octavia SE Plus 17inch wheel and suspension upgrade is £770.

Octavia Elegance 17 inch wheel and suspesion upgrade is£560.

For the same wheels and tyres.

+1

Also the Seat costs a lot more than the Yeti in a similar spec so they have to do somthing to get people to add extras.

The old Alhambra was just a very old Galaxy/Sharan, but I thought the new one was half decent?

Shame Skoda don't get access to the 7 seater platform, it'd be very popular with private hire drivers.

The new Alhambra is a decent car, but MPVs aren't selling like they used to!

To be honest, Seat at present doesn't know what it's brand is about; it professes to be "young, sporty" brand with the Ibiza and Leon doing alright (Cupra/FR ranges especially), but some of it's smallest selling cars are the "mummsy" Altea range, the re-skined A4 Exeo "executive saloon" and the poor-selling MPV Alhambra.

In these last three model ranges, where it the "auto emoticon"? Exactly! Doesn't exist! While they may be decent cars in their own right, they do not fit in with the brand's image, or the image they want. The last three cars don't warrant the R&D that's been spent on them. The Alhambra, spec-for-spec is about a grand cheaper than the Sharran. And the VW will be worth far more in 3 years, so the tiny saving doesn't really mean anything in the long run!

An Octavia SE with 17 inch wheels and suspension upgrade for only £770 !!

I'll take two dozen please :giggle:

I'm with you there....... For this reason also why did SEAT get the MPV version of the Sharan and not Å koda? I know SEAT had had the Alhambra/Galaxy/Sharan before but in view of their supposed sporty nature it would have made far more sense to make a Å koda MPV twin to the Sharan and NOT an Alhambra (again). But in saying that as it happens it also one of the best cars in their range. Though I don't mind the Ibiza to be honest. Especially after its recent facelift where it lost the hideous rubber band that that was stretched from around the mirrors to the lower front of the bumper giving it a permanent stupid grin.

But as stated above the option prices probably reflect their need to try somehow to shift more metal.

Didnt say " with " but knock yourself out.

Should the option prices be compared to similar cars ie Ibiza v Fabia or Leon v Octavia although there will probably be differences.

But what you've got to take into account is the difference in cost between the standard fit and the upgrade. The SE Plus may well have cheaper wheels/suspension on it as standard than the Elegannce, hence the cost of upgrading an SE is more.

I remember reading that Skoda turned down the MPV

Shouldnt make any difference when fitted on the production line. But they charge more for it.

Indeed if your cheeky at the moment you'll be surprised what you can get. My friend got an Seat Leon 1.6 SE Copa Ecomotive for £16k dead (£19.5k before discount). In all honestly with a little bit more cheek could have got it down a wee more.

I'm interested who will win my business between the fabia and ibiza combi, though fabia is a better to sit in.

Seat sales in 2011 were 36,089, compared to 32,935 in 2010. So Seat sales were up 9.58% in a market that was down 4.41% - Skoda were up slightly less at 9.27%.
