VRS Coilovers...advice?

Featured Replies

I'm looking around at different coilover packages for my Fabia VRS and don't know what to make of JOM coilovers...

They're nice and cheap, but why are they so cheap?

Can somebody give me some advice preferably based on experience on how they perform?

Are they decent enough while maintaining decent ride quality?

Or should I steer clear and go for something a bit more pricey? (suggestions?)

Cheers

:D

I have got cheap coilovers on my Vrs and it bounces all over the place going get rid soon off them and treat her to some kw v1

I have some Jom coil overs. For the price you can't beat them, had them on since October and compared to standard suspension they are amazing. Took about a month to bed in and even out, ok so now you drive

Down a road and go up and down with every dip - not violently but you feel connected to the road, before corners at 40-50 were done at your own risk now you can add another 30 mpg depending on corner. Understeer gone and it just feels so much better. For the price of 195 quid delivered + the drop links you can't go wrong imo!

You pay for what you get,

You think of the price of development, materials & shipping for these coilovers, and they can sell them for £195 to your door? imo a few corners must have been skipped, Yes they lower your car & make your suspension rock solid but is that what you want? Iv been there and done that & after a while dodging pot holes, re-routing journeys & bouncing all over the road is over rated! Not to mension the dampeners will go pop...

imo stick to KW's or Eibachs

When your on a budget thought they are a thing of wonder, however my bonus this year will be spent on some KW's and a fmic. I agree you get what you pay for most of the cut corners on Jom are to do with the finish quality however I brought them from a shop and they have a guarantee yada yada, had they been off a dodgy site I wouldn't have bothered, I looked into all makes and models and from wherever you looked from there were pros and cons. I agree dodging pot holes, re routed journeys and bouncing all over are a down side but so far I havnt had to re route any journey as I have been able to tackle all speed bumps and obstacles :)

I've been running JOM's daily since August and can't fault them, I bought mines from Venom motorsport and they've had less warranty issues with them than FK streets. Driven through Edinburgh with Mike B and Can on board and theey thought the ride was good, I'd buy KW's if I did track days.

For the money, you cant fault them.

I've just got ap coilies and got em from demontweeks and paying for em monthly as there's no interest!!well 30quid

As with most things you get what you pay for with suspension.

The JOM coilovers are excellent value for money and come with two years warranty but if you spend more you will get a better quality kit in terms of build and materials used, all depends how much you want to spend really.

Cheers people.

Fairly mixed reviews for them then eh.

I think for peace of mind I'd rather save up a little bit and go for something around the £400 mark (seems about average price).

The only thing is, I'm trying to keep as much of the ride quality as possible. I know its impossible to keep all of the OEM ride quality, but I dont want to be breaking my spine everytime I go over a slight dip in the road.

for £400 id go for APs

Rich

I've just got aps, fitting them sat! Me mates got em on his and it ant a harsh ride at all!!

Another vote for kw v1's here

Are APs made by kw??

They are yes.

Yup ap are kw's budget brand

There more than capable for road use

I did plenty of research before ordering coilovers for my VRS, I knew I wanted to lower it by more than a spring kit could achieve, but didn't want to lose ride quality. In the end I went for Eibach coilovers (not listed for the Fabia but they are for the Polo/Ibiza) and they have been excellent. I'm running a 45mm drop and the ride is at least as good as standard. They aren't cheap, but they are stainless, and I had excellent service and price from Damian @ DPM.

Weitec Hicon Gts?? Not bad for the money. Had them on 18 months with no issues. Around the £400 mark.
