best place to buy

Featured Replies

My cam belt is over due, spoke to the mechanic I use for big jobs and according to the computer it takes 2.2 hours or in money 60-80 quid. Which kit will be best? Would it be one of the kits off euro car parts? Plus which water pump? And where's the best place to get coolent from?

Thanks

MPD parts far more superior in quality than ECP. I use both suppliers and Euros stuff always brakes/fails/crap! Never had any probs with Motor parts. i used there kit and WP on my rs a couple weeks ago.

hope this helps

Just had a look a mpd shows up as nowt in stock

you buying online or somthing? If MPD aint got it they can get it within 24 bud :)

cost me £160 for cam kit, inc bolts, tentioners, water pump, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, platinum sparks which i think s very good. Euros was a little cheaper but as i say above, euros are crap!

Its 113.02 for the kit according to to the site. Might ring up the local parts place tomorrow and see what they will do a decent kit for what's the best brand for timing belts water pump?

I went to VW for mine as its the closest place. Bought the full cambelt kit, water pump, all the gubbins inbetween and it was around the £150 mark. Haven't got the bill to hand, but that was with a bit of matey discount. I'd always try genuine first, you never know it might suprise you! Plus its all guarenteed for 3 years (IIRC) if it goes wrong.

you got me thinking wtf, so i checked my invoice from mpd £106.88 for all service parts inc cam kit, pollen filter and 5l padgid brake cleaner. TPS invoice for £26.95 for my LL oil. that was with a little trade discount obviously. i dont think that was to bad.

Im nipping in to my dealer on Saturday so might price this all up there. I get a big discount at a local motorfactors but they dont always stock the best parts.

I've sent my dealer a email, just waiting for a reply.

Mine will do it for £150 all in. Full kit plus metal water pump

TPS for a bit cheaper than dealer prices?

or www.vwspares.co.uk

Id keep the pink G12++ coolant in there.

EDIT - Interesting as didnt think the dealers supplied the steel impeller pumps.

metal pumps were stopped by alot of places, due to stuff in some coolants it was corroding the blades, if they brake the chances of damaging something internal is greater than using a plastic one.

ill stick with the plastic ones thanks! :giggle:

Well I'm at the dealers now for coil pack re call so I'll ask now lol

just asked him he said its a different part number but doesn't know till it comes, he's ordered it in even though I've told I'm still looking around which I find strange usually they won't order owt in till you pay if its over 25 quid. He can't do it any cheaper than 150 for belt kit and pump. Still lookin round though

ECP and enter "BRISK25" in the discount code section of the checkout

sere motors for genuine at a decent price

Which after market brand is best? There's some strange names coming up on a ebay search lol

don't bother with aftermarket - give david at sere a ring, genuine parts backed by a decent guarantee should something go wrong

Asked Dale on the lupo forums how much if can do it for posted inc vat

Cambelt kit £85.00

Water Pump £32.00

Ain't found anyone cheaper than him yet for original parts lol. But just incase I'll give seres a ring on Monday and see what they can do it for.

How many miles has it done? Might be worth budgeting in the damper too.

i'd do the damper for peace of mind - car will be 12 years old around next change otherwise - worth risking it for such a cheap part?
