Be aware if you are changing the XDS for Track Days,  when the Brake System gets too hot, the XDS is automatically disabled anyway.

Better Fluid & Pads are pretty important and maybe less electronic interference settings rather than more.

Also be aware if buying a Used Car, your XDS Setting, & Brake Assist, possibly the Steering Assist has already been changed.

So best check out what settings your car are on, still Factory Settings or Changed by previous owners.

Just done changes the settings on the brakes and XDS, have noticed a slight difference in braking but the XDS setting is easily noticable. With the steering weight change too I'm chuffed.

Settings:

(0-normal 1-week 2-strong)

Brakes 0-2

XDS 0-2

Steering - 1121 - 1151 (progressive with speed)

LOL.  More is not always better.

You do not turn the Steering assist up, just because you can.

(The Traction Control is Free Gratis, but i chose to Switch it Off.)

Changing the XDS Setting might be free,  Drive Shafts, CV's and other Drive Train Replacement components do not come free.

As i mentioned earlier, the XDS Disables its self when the Brake System becomes too hot.

That is from the Driver Using the Brakes, the ESP using them, and the XDS using them, so the more the XDS is turned up,

the sooner it might shut its self off. Also the sooner the pads are being cooked, and that is other parts that need cash money to replace, maybe sooner.

Just a thought.

Drive shafts on cars are designed to transmit torque right?

I agree that braking a driven wheel may seem like you're braking a powered wheel, but the other end is attached to the differential which transmits said torque through to the other driveshaft instead of simply loading up that sides components. It's not like you're braking a wheel on a locked diff... or riding both peddles in a kart. It may put a bit more strain on the drivetrain...but so does remapping. More torque transmitted through all components. If I were to make this change I would most likely upgrade pads too, to be sensible... so not quite a free mod.

Just a thought.

All correct.

So just go with the flow. Carry on as you were, what is the worst that can happen.

There have been a few Failures on the ones with the XDS changed, but then failures are just one of those things.

Free and at no cost, just parts and labour.

Bump, since the same stuff keeps coming up.

Thanks for the bump, very interesting indeed but I assume it's only on the VRSs or models with a TC button right? My elegance doesn't have one 😞

XDS is only on the vRS, and there are some Mk2 with a Traction Control button and some without.

There are even mk2 without ESP because Skoda had it standard on some cars and an option on others, right up to it being required as a Factory Standard by legislation.

PS.

The cars can and some do have ESP without having TC / ASR and a TC on / off button.
