I've got everybodys money now, and I've just been paid, so going to book in next couple of days hopefully!

OK, Hotel is booked! we're commited now! lol..

1. Tigger and Paige + 2

2. Gilly, Wibble + 2

3. Sharkrider, Black & white, Can, softscoop.

I'm waiting for confirmation/payment from Jase and his mate, then I can book hotel... come on Jason! lol

Ah, yes! Well, I am planning on going over to my mate's place this week one evening to thrash out the details, and get my car's tax disc....

Put me down as a maybe. I looking at a lot of changes in my life between now an September. But I'm definitely up for it if everything goes as planned.

I just hope my Fabia will last that long. Already over 120k.

Is it true what I heard on Top Gear, you need to carry a breathe test kit for driving in europe?

I have seen that somewhere too, so yes I think so. Two apparently, you have to be able to use one and still have a spare.

Do not worry too much about this new law it does come in on 1st July but they will NOT be enforcing it until 1st Nov 2012 so you will not get the piddly small fine.

It's just France that are introducing this ridiculous law, from the of 1st July you'll have to have one in your glovebox or face a ten quid fine ...... not necessary to have two though, I just bought myself one of these from eBay.

That will not be acceptable to the French anyway its not an approved one by them (tbh be careful going off those as they are notoriously inaccurate)

Biggest new one in France in force today is speed camera alerts on sat navs these are no longer allowed and the fine if caught is up to €1500 and they seize the device (if built in and cannot be removed there and then car too) all speed camera warning signs are being removed and a few thousand more cameras going up all over France. (fines can now follow you back to the UK can take up to a year though flash lots of them you could be added to their ANPR watch list)

ps Drink Drive limit in Czech Republic is 0.0mg not 0.8mg like in UK it's VERY easy to be over the limit the next morning as a result! Eat loads and sleep in

On the spot fines are strongly enforced in CZ (I have worked there a lot :( ) The police will take NO guff be nice and have plenty of cash for on the spot fines if your naughty. Fines are fairly small but in France they have just revised their fine structure holly cow be sensible there and in Belgium non nationals get higher on the spot fines talking €500 ish there and then for 40kph over speed limit so save any enthusiasm for the father land. Having some CZK cash before you leave might be a good idea and Euros for fines. (if they haven't got time to escort you to an ATM you will loose car and take most of day to recover it worst case)

Here is a guide for driving in CZ

https://www.tispol.o...echrepublic.pdf

Anyone needing to buy the required equipment due to different rules in different countries it can cost a bomb if you go to Halfords or worse again buy on ferry Amazon and Ebay will cost pennies in comparison and its all good stuff to have in car anyway for in UK (bar the warning triangle can't be used on UK motorways)

ps Drink Drive limit in Czech Republic is 50mg not 80mg like in UK it's VERY easy to be over the limit the next morning as a result! Eat loads and sleep in

I thought it was pretty much nil??

Ok, well as soon as I have the money I ccan book the hotel!!

I thought it was pretty much nil??

Correct I was thinking of Croatia lol CZ is 0.0mg even worse! I do not drink in CZ when I work there for that reason! **Edited above** cheers

I have seen police regularly in camouflage lying between barriers in central reservation on motorways with a speed gun and a radio then people being pulled over on mass further along road no messing about. A lot of speed cameras in urban areas are forward facing with double flash and entering a town denotes the change of speed limit to 50kph a sign showing the speed its widely not used in most EU countries.

OK - Sorted all details out with my mate and I basically have his money now, so should be able to go forward now.

if you guys can let me know how many you need i'll arrange some breathalyzers from the french supermarkets since my folks live there i'll post back with the price when my dad has been to the supermarket, from memory they are only a couple of euros, they are of course approved by the french gov.

Right - I have paid my travel agent (Loz) for the hotel for two now. I haven't yet checked if she is registered with ABTA though. :D

1. Tigger and Paige + 2

2. Gilly, Wibble + 2

3. Sharkrider, Black & white, Can, softscoop.

4. Jason + mate, Loz + 1

She's not, she's done a runner! :p lol

I'm just on the hotel site now hoping to book

My mate and I have decided to catch a bit more of a sociable ferry (8am Thursday) so shall be playing catchup during the day. ;) We won't be stopping for well... most things. :D

All booked now Jason, but I don't know your email address to forward the confirmation lol

Email address sent to you.

With us arriving in Calais/Dunkirk around 11am, we are aiming to cover those 750 miles in about 10 hours..... Should be doable. :D

You might hit all the traffic, but good luck, I don't think the Hotel has a time you need to get there by.

Well I'll already be checked into our room so he wont have to check in lol

We might not bother checking in - just go straight to the bar outside the hotel :D As long as the mongrel is tucked away in the parking, I'm happy :D
