Removal of unwanted dealer stickers

Featured Replies

Has anyone found a safe way of removing the unwanted sticker that dealers put on the rear window of the car when they sell the car to you?

I have tried raising a little corner of the sticker to peel it off but it just disintegrates as you pick at it as the glue is like cement and the sticker is brittle.

I am tempted to use a hair drier to heat the surface of the sticker in order to make the glue tacky and then try peeling again.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Exactly that, heat for about 2 mins with a hair dryer ( not too close), then pick a corner and peel in one go. Then remove glue residue with rain x

Heat an a bit of patience is required I am afraid, then usually some simple Glass Cleaner will remove any residue......

If its not on the heating elements, a razor blade is really easy and quick.

A bit of white spirit takes off glue residue really easily too.

Funny that rediculous advice has been in use for many years at used car dealerships. Ask one how to take one off lol

Try the hairdrier trick on a 20yr old dried up sticker

:dull:

Dealers have been doing it wrong for years!!

The OP hasnt got a 20 year old sticker has he?

If you use a hairdrier ALL stickers will come off

Why not try it yourself

Its safe...and it works

Well I have two friends, who are car salemen, one has his own garage,(used cars, for 33 years) and another who has worked at all the main car maker dealerships ( currently for Jaguar) who have never used a razorblade, I do not think a car showroom would be happy with employees having razor blades on their person , :dull:

I have used hairdryer in the past to remove stickers but have also seen a few cars when having rear windows tinted the chap doing them has used a razor blade to remove then lots of cleaner to remove any left over residue

No, a stanley or razor blade works a treat on old stickers, provided they are not on the elements.

3M Citrus spray, maybe?
