Quite pleased - just three months from order to delivery.

170 Elegance - with just two extra toys - Factory fitted alarm (it helps with the insurance) and a heated front windscreen.

Took a while to pair the mobile phone.... - I had parked on the drive with the steering wheel upside down and was trying to use the radio buttons instead of the telephone ones :giggle: .

One of those Do'h moments so. The heated screen should be worth its weight in gold these mornings. What colour did you go for?

Glad to hear you have your new Monster in a very reasonable time; be making others over here jealous, appears to take for ever to get a 170 ordered through SUK :(

Would also agree the heated screen for this time of year is well worth having.

Regards,

TP

The solid blue - I don't see the value in paying for a metallic colour, I am more interestind in functionality than 'bling' :)

Did a certain newspaper advert featuring a Yeti with "TN" plates around the time of a certain GAA match also have an influence on that decision? That colour certainly suits the Yeti.

Is the alarm not a standard feature?

Is the alarm not a standard feature?

Not sure about other countries, but it is listed as an additional item in Ireland.

I have small sensors in the trim above the rear view mirror and a red switch in the door pillar by the drivers door to switch them off (e.g. if you have a dog in the car) - does anybody have those that didn't specify the alarm?

:) I didn't see that advert, but after a weekend 'testing' I can say that silver (like my old car) may have been a better decision in terms of not looking so dirty .

I may have to wash this car occasionally :giggle:.

Standard on SE and Elegance models in UK

No they're only fitted if you opt for the factory fit alarm, which as you say is optional in Ireland as are the rain sensing wipers and HID headlamps. The panoramic sunroof used to be standard on the Elegance/Experience at the start but that was soon dropped as they down spec'd to juggle the prices.

Nope, the sunroof was dropped when Škoda stopped putting sunroofs in RHD cars around April 2010. I know since I ordered my car two weeks before the ban on sunroof orders came into effect. Škoda Ireland at that point had the sunroof as standard on the top model and then started to phone people that had ordered such a car to ask if they'd be happy to take a Columbus Sat Nav instead of a sunroof. Subsequent to that you might be right - they did not bring the roof back in order to "juggle the prices".

I stand corrected, they did indeed drop the sunroof at that time and offered the Columbus for a short time before dropping that around September 2010. They now offer the sunroof as part of the "Adventure Pack" for the middle spec Ambition. The pack includes the Alu side panels, mirror covers and rear bumper lip as well as cruise control. The pack costs an extra 1900 euro which is around the same as the price difference between the Ambition and Elegance model. They took cruise control, rain sensing wipers, Belero radio and autodimming mirrors of the Ambition to keep the prices down. If you spec the sunroof as an extra on the Diesel Elegance should you are into the same price bracket as one of the 4x4 models.
