Fabia VRS Mk1 vs MK2

Featured Replies

Hi everyone i have looked to see if this topic has already been covered however i can't find anything.

Has anyone ever wondered or know what the Fabia VRS MK1 remapped is like against the standard MK2 in performace?

If the Mk1 was remapped they would both be similar in BHP right but the MK1 would surely have a heck of a lot more torque so just wonder which would have the edge in a race?

Thanks

Done this several times at meets with Sharkrider and his standard mk2 vRS vs my mapped mk1.

Despite me having more torque, the mk2 pulls away. Not massively faster, but it definitely is.

DSG helps a lot.

i munch mk2's

i munch mk2's

Lol yours is more than just a map though :p

Yeh after driving Sharkriders with 4 people in and seeing how fast 60 came up on the speedo I can see how even with a remap a MK1 wouldn't stand a chance. Give it a good run for it's money though!

Anyone know what the in-gear acceleration times are for the MK2? I know the MK2 has been clocked at about 5.6 seconds 50-70 mph.

Yes, it's been done before.

The mkI is a warm hatch, the mkII is a hot hatch.

The mkII has the ace up it's sleeve of a DSG box with very quick changes and no driver skill in terms of changing gear.

So you need a higher power to weight ratio in a mkI than the mkII has to beat it.

However, there is no point comparing stock to modified.

Because whatever power gains you can get on a mkI can also be done on the mkII.

The mkII will modify to a higher power output more cheaply than a mkI. (speaking as a 250-260bhp mkI driver)

But the character of both cars is different.

Manual diesel and petrol DSG.

Choose what you prefer. I prefer the mkI raw feeling and the need to drive it. I also have a DSG (not mkII Faia though) and it's good. But for a blast, heel and toe, balancing the car etc... is more outright fun even if it's slower that pulling a flappy paddle.

^ I think bossfox has it covered. Search if you want exact figures, been discussed many times before.

So they are pretty quick then!

Yeah i have to agree with DSG, it requires minimal effort! My friend has a Golf GTI ED30 with DSG and that thing can move! had it mapped with some other mods and currently running 300bhp...
