DSG(7) problem when breaking

Featured Replies

Just bought a used superb combi 1,8 tsi DSG 2010. A really nice car, runs like on air compared to my fabia combi 1.2 tsi 2011.

Have only driven it for a few days but i think that is behaves a little bit strange when breaking/slowing down for trafic lights, crossings etc.

I use constant pressure on the brake, and the car is slowing down softly as it should, but when geting close to standing still it speeds up a little bit, enough for me to have to press the brake harder to maintain the low speed.

Anybody experienced this before? The car was sold 2010-06 so it still has som new car warranty (here in sweden 2 years). Would like some more info before i take it to the workshop

Furthermore, is there any updates that i should check that my car has got since it was new? Built 2010-06

What is the rev counter reading when it seems to speed up. One reason I can think of would be anti-stall kicking in because it hasn't changed down a gear when it should, or is this happening once the gearbox has reached 1st?

I have only driven it for a few days so my eyes has been more at the traffic then at the rpm/gears, but i will try it today away from traffic.

But it seems possible that it's not gearing down to 1st. In that case, could it be a technical fault or is it a "learning" issue for the gearbox? btw, i have only driven it in D mode.

DSG will only select 1st as it comes to an almost complete stop, the DSG is very different to a conventional auto or manual box and needs a very different driving style. The 7 speed dsg uses dry clutches, and is again very different to the wet clutch 6 speed DSG which I had in my now sold Superb.

Could I add, as a fervent Skoda fan, that there does appear to be some sort of "glitch" in the dry 7 speed DSG.

Ours was a Sept 2010 car, acknowledged ( by Skoda,& currently being sorted out) low speed manouvering problems, and others have experienced exactly the same

I suspect a "batch" were liable to this manufacturing or possibly hardware/software glitch
