Anyone got a spare £45k?

Featured Replies

its strange to being comparing a used nissan GTR against a new Audi A1.

New GTR is the thick end of £70k against a stupid £45k for the Audi.

A new 1 Series M Coupe or RS3 is a similar price to the A1 Quattro and just exclusive but considerably faster and more powerful.

I cannot see A1 Quattro being a great financial investment there are so many exclusive variants of cars these days and none really appreciate in value.

  • Well if you had bothered to read....and understand the previuos posts by me and others....and look into it........you would realise that they HAVE a racing heritage....!!!! SO STOP TROLLING!!!!!!!!!!

  • So lets get this right, you've linked to a 12 year old Nissan that cost 55k and is now selling for £21k. A loss of 34k in 12 years. And your comparing that to an Audi RS6 Avant which is nearly 4 yea

Skylines ..... R32s......WOW !

Just think how unlucky all those World champions in real motor racing are not winning a trophy in the 'Brisbane cup for boy racers' OR the 'Suzuka cup for turbocharged suckers'

I think I'll just carry on reading my book. It's called Legends of motor racing. I've looked real hard but there's bugger all under Datsun or Nissan ! LOL !

Ahem.. http://www.ulladullatimes.com.au/news/local/sport/general/nissan-joins-the-supercars/2456234.aspx

Nissan is highly acclaimed and successful in global motorsport, it’s products having won the European-based FIA GT1 Drivers’ Championship, Japanese Super GT Championship and the LMP2 class (1st and 2nd) at Le Mans last year.

Nissan’s entry into the V8 Supercar Championship from 2013 is consistent with its’ long-time participation in top-level motorsport around the world that extends back to the late 1950s

One of these races is the legendary Bathurst 1000 which racers from all over the world want to have a go at. Both Plato and Neal have had a go in the past and were amazed at how tough it was.

So just because it isn't in YOUR book doesn't mean it doesn't count. There's many forms for motorsport and for you to criticise Nissan/Datsun or any other Japanese manufacturer for not having "Racing Pedigree" without having all the facts is moronic. I love F1 but it isn’t the only race series.

And as for the mention of Senna "teaching" the Japanese how to build a car is not completely true. Yes he did offer suggestions but don't think he did all the work. Way before that Honda were developing race engines so they knew what they were doing. Arguably Senna wouldn't have been world champion without Honda and their engine. The 1988 Mclaren was the most dominant F1 car hugely down to the power and reliability of the engine.

Oh and have you ever noticed one of the sponsors on the current F1 World Champions car is? Yes that's right it's Infiniti which is Nissan who develop the KERS system.

Nissan aren't motorsport? :wonder:

And for those of you slagging off the GTR, you all drive <£20k Skoda's, Mazda's, Seat's etc. so how you can slag of a car that will laugh in the face of almost any Ferrari, Porsche or Lamborghini for less than half the price of any of them beggars belief.

second that. They've even made a Juke R which will wipe the floor of all the High end sports cars!! And that a crossover lol

Your also forgeting the whole NISIMO branch of nissan who have built some epic cars, the. You have the castrol toms supra which wiped the floor.

But tbf id much rather have a vag car though : )

second this two!! Japanese can make awesome sports cars, skyline, rx7, supra, celica gt4, civic type r, integra type r, NSX evo, galant vr4, AND THE ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE GTR and all affordable in the second hand market. I love my Skoda, its practical, economical with a lovely TDI engine and very comfortable. don't get me wrong but apart from porsche and the high end mercs the Germans have nothing on the Japanese in forms of sports cars for the masses. Let alone joe bloggs

given the choice myself:-

Audi A1 Quattro that looks too much like its been styled by some litle 17 year old that Audi hired and told him he could do what he liked with it

or...

Audi RS2 (PROPER fast Audi before they went all over-priced posh brand) for when you want a bit of speed

+

Lotus Elise for track days

+

Fabia vRS estate for an everyday car

Not really a contest even if I was blasted.

Heritage......hhhmmmmm.........you obviously have forgotton that over in Japan, Aus, etc that the "datsuns" have a huge following and race pedigree.........And you have forgotton that both Ralliart and Prodrive DOMINATED the Rally scene over here with Scoobies and Mitsu's.....and that many rally drivers still prefer the jap cars!!!!!!

As for getting a used British/italian "racing car" for £45k.........EVO mag just drove their "Datsun" from Lands end to John o Groats non-stop in winter conditions..........your £45K worth of used italian or British "race car" won't get 10miles!!!!!!........thats if you could start it in the cold...... emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

A GTR might look FUGLY.......It might just be a "playstation" car, and just a "Datsun".....but it stops, goes, corners as it says on the tin.........NOT just when the sun is out and earth is on a paralex to the sun with moon in a geo-syncronus orbit, with Jupiter ascending in bla..bla....... emoticon-0103-cool.gif

AS for Audi getting back into Rallying......doubt it as the brand is too "cool" executive etc ............just seen a Lancia Evo in full Rally spec just go by.........Ohhhhhhh F4ck forgot it's the Snowman this weekend!!

Errrm the A1 4WD isn't british or italian  and as far as ia am awea nissan only seem to whin races that are held by the country that built them :wonder: like the americans

I wasn't suggesting it is!!........Please re-read my post no 47.......I was replying to "johnny Boy"'s post comparing the GTR to a Britsh or Ferrari....

QUOTE FROM JOHNNY BOY.....

"""""With any luck, Audi will return to rallying and the Japanese can go about thier business building rocket propelled cars that have about as much heritage & style as erm ...... thier previous efforts.

I hope you enjoy your car, honestly, but don't expect everybody to like it. Yes, it's bloody fast but don't start comparing them to Ferraris etc because of the price. 45k will buy you a nice used Italian or British racing car and not just a Sony Playstation on wheels.

Group hug now lol ;-)""""""

:dull: :dull:

Crazy money.. as previously said thats used GTR money.. Or an Atom 300bhp and have 15k spare for a daily..

SO STOP TROLLING!!!!!!!!!!

Just to set the record straight about "Datsuns"..........finally found a link to NISSAN MOTORSPORTS HISTORY PAGE...

http://www.nissan-mo...ORTS/index.htmlhttp://www.nissan-mo...ORTS/index.html

Just looking at the "European" races that they have won;

1971 Monte Carlo Rally

1989 Le Mans 24hrs

1991 Spa 24hrs

1995 Le Mans 24hrs

1996 BTCC

1997 Le Mans 24hrs

1998 Le Mans 24hrs

1999 BTCC

2008 Nurburing 24hrs

Then there's all the Jap/Aus races and all the Safari races...etc....etc.....

So that's not a racing heritage eh???????........Bloody TROLLS........

Some people are just diappointed that their lives haven't turned out quite well enough to buy a properly brilliant car like a GTR or better, so instead of praising it for the amazing piece of engineering that it is, they have to slag it, and anybody who likes it off to make themselves feel better.

Sad really...

Think we've proven the point  Nissans do have racing heritage. If I can afford one in a few years I'll get one. Saw a R34 Skyline today in Blue and looked a nice bit of kit.

Back on topic. No I wouldn't buy that A1 or any other A1

LOL !

I'm going to be so jealous when you guys trade your Skodas in for your GTRs

At least there'll be no misfire and oil issue....

...........STOP TROLLING!!!!!!!!!

The point has been proven that Nissan DO have some Motorsport history and not none whatsoever as people seem to think. The original point was nothing to do with Motorsport and was about how overpriced the A1 was and how you could get a GTR for the same money. The Nissan GTR is a new yard stick in terms of car engineering and is am amazing piece of kit. Anyone who says otherwise is deluded. Sure Lotus helped them develop the chassis but that's outsourcing, just like they outsource the nuts and bolts and brakes, tyres and other bits like EVERY manufacturer does.

As for ring times it's fastest time was in the wet and there's not an Audi anywhere near it. The only things that beat it are Radicals and a few Porches with racing tyres.

Now as fabdavrav said go troll somewhere else

Stop feeding the trolls guys.

Which only prove what i said they are only good at winning things on that side of the world, the best motorsport drivers are all europian making the europian motorsport world the most competative in the world, the biggest names are made in europian championships, how many NASCAR racers do you know? none? because as massive as it is in the states nascar is nowear near as competative as for example the WRC, a car manufacturers success is mostly made by how they perform in europe. Entering into the europian championships in the past 42 years and only coming away with 9 wins is poor as they are still entrered into it they still compete in the BTCC but they do so bad you don't notice them. and im sure if FORD,AUDI,VAUXHALL ect were entered into these other races outside of europian championships you wouldnt hear anything about NISSAN at all realy because looking down your list of championships NISSAN have won most are japanese spec races for japanese built cars only so of course they are going to win lmao! whos the competition? mazda? lol
