Realistic MPG for Greenline II

Featured Replies

So far the best I've managed is 56mpg according to the car. Normally it's only getting 49 - 50mpg. Dont rev it hard, don't go above 80mph (sits just under 2500 revs), change gear when the gear shift indicator tells me - but I have only done a couple of thousand miles so far....

My 170 DSG estate is at its most efficient if I keep to about 50 mph - there's a noticeable drop in economy between 60 mph and 70 mph sustained, and another noticeable drop from 70 mph to 80 mph.

Hi, also got a 170CR but M6. Its not used for many long runs (1y & 5mths old & now has 8750 mls on clock). Pootling about it tends to get about 40mpg on short runs around town and 45 if also on a few country roads. Just got back from first long run in ages (Manchester => London & back 440mls & it returned 56mpg. I must confess quite impressed and a claimed 650 mls on a tank.

I was driving carefully but not too slowly mainly 65-75mph but was also stuck in london traffic for an hour and on the odd stretch got to just shy of 90. I'm impressed. so smooth... long may it continue... :sun:

My Octavia Greenline did 81.2mpg yesterday on a 41 mile motorway run, doing 56mph on cruise control, empty tank, empty boot.

When ambient is above 10C the consumption is much better. Getting 57mpg now in the Winter but expect 70mpg in the Summer.

I got 82.0 mpg (by the trip computer) on that same run last week (when ambient was 22.5C). I filled up later in the eveing and the range then said 935 miles - if only!!!!

Got a more realistic 68.8mpg on the 'reverse' run into work this morning (at 5.5C, heaters & lights on etc. etc.)

That's quite respectable. How many miles has your GL covered?

The mpg of my 17,500 mile GL is steadily improving. On the current tank I have achieved 888 miles and should just about crack the 900 mile barrier which will be a small achievement.

That's not to be sniffed at!

What sort of driving style, speeds etc are you doing?

Wow just had a look on fuelly and your last tankful acheived 69.9 MPG

Mainly motorway miles and at speeds of between 54-57mph.

Last week, I broke through the 900 mile barrier to records an all-time best of 69.90 mpg.

I don't know if you have a similar english webpage, but check out www.spritmonitor.de Users upload the actual figures from their cars (All brands and models) and you can see under what conditions/speeds the milage was obtained.

Yes, I do. My username is the same as both Fuelly and Briskoda.

Just use the UK flag on spritmonitor. Until we put the winter tyres on the average was over 20km/l but has dropped a bit during the winter. The summer tyres goes on today and I hope that it will improve the fuel economy a bit again along with the warmer weather (that we are still waiting for). Our daily journeys are to short for a good average
