Dectane LED black/smoke tail lights - I finally gave in

Featured Replies

Not for me, but then if we all drove the same car in the same colour with the same engine and the same spec and fancied the same women, life would be very boring :giggle:

I'm normally against tints on any lights as all they do is reduce light output but on these with the LED's the light output seems just as good.

It would be nice to see the same night/day pics but with both clusters fitted.

I'd also mirror an earlier comment, the clusters seem to suit a car with less fuss around the rear, by that I mean the Octavia vRS badge, the Shark sticker, the red LED high-level brake light and the bumper reflectors*. Without these it would look very stealth like

(* I appreciate that these are required by law).

Well the car is still for sale but while I still have it I will continue to keep it in the manner its become acustomed too. Which is spoilt :giggle:

Now, now, boys - let's stay on topic ;)

Look great when lit up, look cheap when not. IMHO

I could always swap them over at dusk every day :)

I couldn't consider running without the Shark sticker, that gives me an extra 30bhp B)

Yeah that'll be great if you don't mind.

AT LAST!!!!

It's all your fault! :)

Really daft question mate, but where is the rear fog light if the ordinary bulb is the reverse lamp? And.... do you get the fog light on the correct side or do you get both? I also assume that you need the rear "cat eye" reflectors as the cluster is like the FL ones, with out the red reflector, or have I lot the plot?!?

I think the fog light is in the same position as it is on the genuine clusters, I'm assuming the LED's either get brighter or there is more of them - as with the brake lights?

Good question on the functionality though, if you have enabled twin rear fogs using VCDS will this still work in the LED clusters?

Fog works the same as standard ie the lower section intensifies

I've got both fogs activated, and yes, they both work

I'll try to post a Photobucket link to a video I've uploaded :)

Video link, hopefully

Works for me

Loving the video, for the first few seconds I was trying to work out what the green light was, I thought it was an alien landing, then I sussed it was the interior light shining through your tints :giggle:

What is with the system check when you turn on the ignition? Did you notice it on the LED clusters? All the different functions went through some sort of sequence before you turned on the lights... neat

It also happens on front parking LEDS and on my case the DRL LED bulbs also.

So for an instante its a police car without the blue

Very nice Brimma

The red clear one (crystal) is looks like this

Where are the red and crystal one from? And brakes should be done next sat with forge dv :D

Now that would look really mean.......

Like my black L&K estate would if I had these, what with it not having any stickers or reflectors on and the chrome grill already being colour coded black, hmmm?? B)

:o £250 odd MIGHT be a bit too much for me though!

You couldn't actually run those lights on a non-vRS anyway, as it would leave you with no reflectors at the back, which might be slightly illegal :|

Thats more like it! OK where from (please don't say Superskoda!). Also are they type approved?

I like that sequence too.

Although it could just be the bulb-fail doing diagnostics. I don't think there's any other feed to the clusters on startup. Also the reverse light didn't flash at that time. I think the time-frame involved in the diagnostics is too fast to actually get the bulb to fire-up, but just long enough to check for circuit continuity.

Yep - LEDs react very quickly whereas a filament bulb doesn't heat up, so that will be the bulb failure check. You can't see it on a normal bulb, but you will get a flicker from an LED.

Looks very cool indeed!
