Suspected clutch issue following fluid bleed

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I recently bled my clutch and brakes in accordance with the 2 year requirement for fluid replacement. I used a Gunzons ezibleed kit in the order of bleeding according to the holy book of Haynes

Since bleeding the system my clutch does not feel right. The biting point is now much further down the action of pedal, so much so that the clutch is actually biting very slightly when the pedal is fully depressed. This is causing a nightmare for gear changes, many of which are now crunchy. My initial thought is air trapped in the system - so I bled the clutch again. I've now put 2 litres of fresh fluid through the system and i still have the same problem. As far as I can see there is no air left in the system.

Any suggestions folks, this is driving me mad :@

For anyone who's interested I managed to fix the problem - I had to "reverse bleed" the clutch by forcing fluid under pressure into the bleed nipple. Apparently air can get trapped in the slave cylinder and is impossible to remove by standard bleeding. Reverse bleeding forces the air back into the master cylinder and out of the system. While reverse bleeding you have to extract fluid from the master cylinder with a syringe or it will overflow! Check out the following youtube vid for a guide -

Of course.

Cheers

You must of let air in on your original bleed. As long as the EziBleed is supplying positive pressure of fluid then there is no way air can get into the system.
