Bulbs

Featured Replies

I want to replace my headlight bulbs H4's, H7's and 501's.

I was thinking either Osram Night breakers or Philips X treme? Can anyone recommend which is best or if there is something better out there? also need advice on 501's want something white but not chavvy and still cast light onto the road.

I ran with Philips x-treme for over a year. Much much better than the standard bulbs :)

Couldn't fault them.

I believe it's H3 not H4 :) Ring Xenon Max +120% claim to be the best out there. I've just installed Osram Night Breaker Plus 90%'s and they're the best I've had so far - although many complain of a short life span, and the box itself suggests you shouldn't expect it to last much longer than half the life of a standard bulbs. Would like to try the Ring bulbs.

501's are not designed to project light on the road. Merely to be seen. There are some legal 501 upgrade bulbs out there such as philips bluevision, and Osram cool blue intense.

My understanding is that the life-span problem relates to Nightbreakers - so don't buy those. Only buy Nightbreaker Plus bulbs - careful since there are still some of the old ones around. I bought the Plus version about 18 months ago and they've been fine.

I run the Philips in my high beam h7, they are good and bright but look no dofferent than the Oem bulbs colour wise, the Osams are def whiter than normal

The life of the "plus" ones is improved against the non-plus ones, but still nowhere near standard bulbs - Osram indicate this on the packaging.

Well I can't see anything on the box mine came in. There's a curious reference to "NBP" and "Standard" but no explanation as to what it means - is it this? The NBP is pointing to about 7 o'clock on a dial with the Standard nearly at 12 o'clock.

Night Breaker Plus

Indicating they've got a life span of about 65% of a standard bulb!

Well that's a pretty obfuscating way of putting it. Not often I get to introduce that word into the conversation!

Marketing ploy, Letting you known they've got a short life without actually telling you as much, Therefore not killing sales!
