SAI blanking for a noob

Featured Replies

just bought a carbon induction kit, now it hasnt got a fitment for the SAI pipe so im considering removing it and all the other rubbish!!

just would like a clear how to... i notice the guide for it has no pictures,

i want a step by step guide on how to do it, also any parts i will need? i also believe you loose the vacuum hose to the dump valve?

where do i then plumb the dv into?

totally confused and need help!!

i'd also like to buy all parts i'd require before hand, thanks! its either that or plumb the sai into my new carbon intake, cheers

also if i planned to leave the SAI in place what size of breather filter would fit over the oem end that enters the stock airbox?

19/25mm??

thanks and would this setup bring on the CEL

I've just done this at the weekend. Hardest part is removing the pump and messing with coolant pipes. Have a look at robs guide on pimpmyskoda.com. also try vw vortex. You shouldn't be messing around with any vac hoses when removing the sai.

The basic steps are:

1. Remove the secondary air pump, bracket and hoses

2. Remove the combi valve in the side of the exhaust manifold and blank off the hole with a Forge blanking plate (for this you need to move coolant hoses out of the way)

3. Put a resistor in the multiplug for the secondary air pump, blank off the hole in the side of the airbox, pull out the relay for the secondary air system and blank off or remove the N112 valve

http://www.pimpmyskoda.co.uk/V2Images/ModsEngine/AirSystemRemoval.htm

Don't forget there's no point in fitting resistors, and removing the relay. You either do one or the other, depending on what you want.

Removing the relay will make the pump and N112 circuits open, so you'll get a light on and the 17841 error code, regardless of pump/no pump/resistor. To get rid of the light and code you'll need to see a tuner.

If your tuner is useless, or you don't want a remap, then try the resistors and leave the relay in place. The resistors seem a little hit and miss, and a bit shady (the pump uses a high current).

Plenty of guides about for removing the pump and combi valve.

if you use a ball ended allen key you may get away with not removing the coolant hoses

Okay so all i need is the forge blanking plate and the cel removed when i map it!

Cheers guys
