  1. 1. Do you get chav's/general idiots trying to race on a daily basis?

You get the odd idiot trying to race you but on the whole I feel no matter what car your that type of. Person is always going to drive like that.

I used to get it a lot I don't know if they just like getting up my ass because they think i'm in a "Slow Skoda" badge snobs, then overtaking me to make a point, like one morning in a 30mph near a school where i know there are sometimes mobile speed cameras, peugot 407 gets up my ass then blasts past me doing about 40-50 while staring and calling me a wan**r and all other names as he past.

I prefer to stick to the speed now in cruise control and save my money and just watch people get angry when they tried to race me, unless I'm having a little fun on a convoy, last time I was intimidated by some one was by a Seat Cupra that came flying up my ass in a 50 so I put my foot down got to about 80, realised he was flying off at the next exit then realised there was a speed camera right in front of me just after the exit and managed to slow down to 59, I've debadged the back of my car now, looks nicer and most people just think it's a normal skoda now.

Yeah, I did this kinda thing a couple of times... and quickly concluded that, actually.. you're simply doing what they want you too.. So now, like you, I just stick my ground... I always do the right speed so don't hold any one up.. The way I see it now is "Go round me if you really wanna go quicker"...

That's not to say I don't relish the 30 - 60 dash and never plant it until i actually pass the NSL sign.. which always seems to catch tailgaters of guard and is kinda fun if I'm honest... Hills can be fun at any speed, as well ;)

I don't think the badge does it... I get it when I drive my folks cars as well (Insight, and a E250)... There's just allot of idiots on the road.

To echo what Luke said though, I bought the car in london, commuted daily and never really got anything.. but seem to get it more in the midlands (though, not allot).. I did wonder if it tallied with another thing I noticed... vRS recognition from people in general.. in London, no one really cared.. up here? I've had "Is it a vRS" when talking about cars more than a few times now. I think there just such a mix of motors in London that unless it's got a horse, bull or R on it, no one even acknowledges it... far to busy playing dodge the bus and fill the gap.

No not really, deal with just as many idiots whilst driving the van,

say that I had a new Mercedes trying it on at the lights this morning, he looked a bit shocked too ;)

I love doing that...

I think you should all do as suggested above... stick normal bumpers on, 1.2 HTP badge on the back and a "Classic" badge on the front wings! lol

In my Impreza, massive reactions, usually from people caught unawares or day dreaming. On the M25 or similar they either leapt out of the way nearly crashing or stubbornly held their lane determined I wouldn't pass... So I'd pull over and let Mr Mondeo behind me bulldoze them out of the way, then flow through after mondeo man. Thanks to the M25 I never had to figure out what to do if there wasn't another car around. :)

+1!

I reckon the new generation of drivers are spoilt and drive accordingly so.

The credit situtation allows new drivers to spend just X a month (following a despoit from mummy and daddy as well as being put on their insurance) to drive a brand new car making them pretty fearless and more prone to driving like a tw*t.

Had they had to work hard and save up every penny (and then still be able to only afford a 80's 1.0l Micra) they'd be much more wary of losing it all while pricking about.

I would disagree to that one, I tend to find the tw*ts are the older generation/s with their MPV's/4x4s/executive cars (ones they think they own the road) or poo banger cars which probably doesn't have any insurance (and sponge of the government). I hardly see younger drivers tailgate and harass except for boy racers.

I've got this silver impreza in derby all stickered up and keeps over taking me in a 30 and all chavy mates keep shouting out car. Ignored it several times till today. Gave the hybrid a good going and he never said a word at next lights. I don't like doin it but sometimes enough is enough

Try going on the rat race that is the M1 on a daily basis, just yesterday I had a VW Sharan would tear by me... slow down so I would overtake only for him to do it again?! I do wonder if these people can drive.

However it is funny when you have a Mondeo going bumper to bumper, if speed up you can see them have the realization that perhaps they have bitten off more than they can chew ;)

Edit: Double post.

HA! I've been trying to convince Softscoop (Sam) to do that for aaaaaages. He has non vRS seats, and steels with wheels trims on... the stock bumpers would turn his car into a complete sleeper... but he won't, pfft, some people! lol

If I'd bought the vRS estate that was for sale, that's exactly what I would have done :)

I've thought about this a few times as well, but I've always been worried

that the front bumper would restrict airflow to the SMIC.

I suppose PD100s have the SMIC too :wonder:

  • 3 months later...

Im only 21 and I've had my Vrs since i was 18/19 and i get a good combination of people that think because i look young i automatically like to waste my time flooring it, just to then go to the petrol station... my main issues seem to be with older men, stupid younger women drivers and younger lads mainly in vauxhall corsa's. the worst i had was a older guy in a Hyundai Coupe. I was driving in a 30 zone dotted with loads of speed bumps and then in a distance i could see him gaining on me really quick and i was doing 30 myself. my cars lowered slightly so i was slowing down a fair bit for speed bumps, on the particular speed bump i was going over it was on a hill, as i got just over the speed bump he decided to overtake me on the hill and was then abusing me... i then proceeded to point ant laugh at him which didn't go down too well with him.

but i do agree that most people seem to think that fabia vrs come with a NOS bottle and drift tyres for a fast & furious remake on the streets of england and do usually want a race.

I'm the wrong side of 40 with kids and like to think my point-n-squirt days are behind me. I'll only floor it when i'm late for work. That'll be every morning then lol!

Seriously though, in the 6 months i've had my VRS1 i've only had a handful of knobs keep wanting me to dog-fight. Ain't nobody got time fo daat
