Rear brake pads - ecp offer 2 different sizes

Featured Replies

Looking to change rear discs/pads. I am aware briskoda have a disc code for eurocarparts, but it offers 2 sets of pagid rear pads. Not sure which ones I need.

Part no. 101441178

Or part no. 101441778

I have a 2006 vrs 2.0 TFSI.

Help appreciated. (live chat is useless, said I can use either. Which seems strange as the are different sizes)

Bizzare just had this dilemma yesterday. Already posted here with no luck.

A search brought up an old post with a response from ECP themselves that said get the #101441178 at £31.14.

That's what I've had delivered.

Getting fitted tomorrow so if you can wait I'll post over the weekend if they were right or wrong.

If you could let me know, that would be great! Seems strange that they list 2.

The options fitted for VAG cars are coded and these codes are known as PR numbers. They are listed (in part) on a sticker in the front cover of your service record. The same sticker is on the boot floor under the carpet.

For example, the rear disk brakes for mine are PR number 1KD.

I think 2l cars are bigger disks and have different pads to the 1.9l. Hence the two kinds listed on the website.

Eurocar parts do show applications for example; "Fitting Position Front; For PR number 1ZF,1ZM"

So have a look again at the website and the two different PR numbers the pads fit, then compare with the sticker!

If you have an interest the codes can be looked up on this website http://igorweb.org/equidec/Default.aspx

For a fee you can look up your own VIN here https://erwin.skoda-auto.cz/erwin/showHome.do and see exactly what the original build details of your car were.

They are the bigger ones with a tab top and bottom. Not the smaller ones with the springs on the side.

They were the right ones #101441178

If your rears are like mine and have been on since new you might want to warn your fitter that the carriers will be a right **** to get off.

Thanks. Might let him find out the hard way!!

Urs got red or green calipers (reckon that matters?)
