Cheap insurance for banned drivers

Featured Replies

Whats a good insurance company to go with for banned drivers?

Keep looking online but all i get is these con artist companys... Read reviews on them and they all seem conmen...

Anybody know a genuine ligitimate company who can insure a banned driver for a decent price??

Cheers

The problem is you'll be seen as a huge risk by any company. :( I'm not aware of anyone who specialises in this field, at least not by being cheaper as that's sadly not how the risk assessment market works.

I know but its a complete giraffe

I have 4 years ncb

And pass plus

Insurance quotes have basically quadrupled :o

You could have a million years NCB, be Police trained or anything, doesn't matter... you've been banned.

That's just how it is unfortunately. I don't know the circumstances of your ban, but all the NCB under the sun won't help!

Saying that ive just had a look on the same review site about some of my previous insurers

Admiral and elephant

They both get slated too and i thought they were bob on... Seems like a lot of keyboard warriors out there tbh... Nobodys really going to praise any1.... Its kindov like car forums all you read is common problems and not enough praise

My mates with adrian flux, didnt go up much after a ban on a modded fabia

Flux have been the cheapest so far but there a broker?

Basically without ban on an octy vrs its £490

With ban cheapest ive got is £1000 tpft

And 1500 fc

:o

Jase its called risk mitigation. You've fecked up before ergo you have an above avarage change of fecking up now so we want more money.

Jase one of the folk at work was banned and his insurance given he's now something like 30 and has quiet a few years since his ban is more than twice my insurance on the fabia and he's only driving a mid engine spec circa 100bhp civic.

Your insurance only trippling with a ban is cheap. Some people end up paying more than the car is worth for third party.

£1500, is about what I pay for car insurance on a slighty modified Fabia PD100 with 4yrs NCB :(

Yeah i know who hasnt done 1xxmph

I was just unlucky and got caught!! :o

I'd say save up and go for it.

The other thing to check would be what modding the octi would do to the premium as I doubt you'll be able to keep it stock for long.

Oh ill be going for it!! 1st day im allowed to drive ill be going for it!

Probs gna have to keep it stock for now though

Be good to see you at some of the meets this year.

Yeah i know who hasnt done 1xxmph

Me! ;)

Fastest I've ever been was an "indicated" 97mph, on too small wheels, so was likley not much more than 85mph "true speed".

There's a time and place! The threat of haivng my licence taken from me has always kept me under a ton!

Goody two shoes!!

Hopefully make it along to some meets!! Fancy taking it over to the isle of man tt with the boot filled with camping gear.... Cant wait been lost without a car!! 2 weeks 6 days to go :)

Just scared of camoflaged 5-0 waiting to pounce!

Could have been a lot worse if you'd hit something/someone doing 100+. Thats what happens when you get caught, keep that kind of speed for track days etc and we'll all be safe.

Time for me to sound like an old fart but you weren't unlucky you were stupid,

You've got the car now I gather anyway so insurance is probably all sorted but I think if I was in your shoes I probably would have gone for the Adrian Flux £1000 quote and not modded it for a couple of years, possibly also done an advanced driving course with IAM or RoSPA, then next year the premium would go down to circa £800 or less, within a couple of years it could be as cheap as £500 with mods. Not sure how old you are but it does drop quite a bit when you hit 25 as well.

If you can pay the whole lot at once that saves you a lot of money over doing it on pay monthly. You could always get a 0% credit card, pay it in one go on that and pay the credit card off over the year that way you're not paying interest.

Banned and cheap insurance are pretty much mutually exclusive.

Bit if a thread revival here.

I have never found insurance companies that provide cover to a banned driver,

only to those that have been banned & got their licence back.

My son just tried their insurance for young drivers £200 more expensive than Admiral.

They are expensive for some young drivers and dont take on under 24's for 4x4 off road policies anymore.

Worth a try for drivers that have been 'Banned' & got their licence back though.

As with all insurance, each company has their own target market and will apply penalties in differing amounts to criteria that do not fit their model. That is why everynyear I phone/web search lots of different companies. This year I got my motorcycle renewal through for £250ish, bit of internetting and a phone call later they had dropped to £150 and reduced the excess!!

Always shop round and bounce them off each other. But if you are young, little experience or have a driving conviction then don't expect to get them down too far.
