Polybushed dog bone

Featured Replies

how can you overtight that bolt?it must be tight to the end and that's it,you won't squeeze the bush,is not designed to

It's like the top mount(shocks),you can't overtight them and squeeze the bush

I am refering to peoples comments above and by memory it does apply pressure to the bush, will have to strip it down top check, just remember we went a bit silly tightening it

Well i have looked at the visual difference, the Super Pro has groves into it and the powerflex doesnt, i am just getting to much vibes from my powerflex, now at 600 miles. I was also wondering when people were talking about torqe setting for the dog bone mount. does anyone have a list of these?

my powerflex one had the groves in..

Is it only me that think the Superpro is no different to OEM feel?

Mine has done 10k and is still rough, and in addition to being rough it's killed the cylindrical bush thanks to the extra forces now being driven straight into it. When I take it off to replace the cylindrical one I'm planning to take 10mm off the rearmost of the two part bush and then slip in 5mm of softer rubber sheet that I have here to help provide a little better low rpm damping. I'm also going to make damn sure that there's zero preload on the system when it's rebuilt. I'm pretty sure I set it up originally like that but there may be a little and I can imagine it wouldn't take much preload to destroy the low frequency damping characteristics of the ployurethane.

I have done 800 miles now with mine, its still vibrating the bonnet, lights, wipers etc, so i am selling the dog mount with all polybushes and then im going to fit a standard one again, with the type of driving its a problem, for people who drive fast there great.

I have just fitted my Powerflex RED dogbone, few hours ago....no vibrations at all, nothing. The engine, the acceleration feels much tighter,I'm very happy with it.I will make a video tommorow to show you that are no vibrations at all.

think red powerflex is slightly softer than the superpro - a bit of forums searching will give you the shore ratings

pretty sure oem is 50 shore, red is 60 shore, and superpro tdi is 70 shore

I've heard, even though the SP are harder they are more pleasant to live with that the PF ones.

how you manage to get no vibrations at all?? you a magic man? lol

well done tho dude.!

I don't know...but I will make a movie and try to show that are no noticeable vibrations. And btw I have tight that bolt wich hold the bushes quite hard

My dogbone ,the entire mount is not the original,is just 1 year old, last year I have change it but was no much improvement at that time.

I have mine with powerflex yellow bushes ready to fit. Must get it fitted!

I have the yellow one and have done around 500miles, it does not seem any different to when it was fitted I guess you learn to live with it.

I have uploaded 2 videos to show you that are no noticeable vibrations at idle after fitting the Powerflex RED dogbone.

1st video is a cold start engine and running at +0.5 deg celsius

2nd video is with warm engine

Just fitted my new dogbone mount with Powerflex yellow bushes and it doesn't seem harsh at all to me.

Will report back after a bit more driving.

my old bushes, after 1 year of use

mad init how some cars vibrate the tits off and others dont. mines alot better now, maybe 2% more vibration than the OEM one. i can live with that.

1st I have a stock DMF on my engine

2nd I cleaned (disk brake spray) and put alot of lube on the entire mount before I put the poly bush, the entire contact surface was lubed properly

I still have a tiny engine movement when I change gears quickly....It's not 100% gone....how's yours?

I'm seriously thinking to change the small round bush also

mine have about 4k on them, the only vibration I notice is the headlights, when you are stationary behind something and go to pull away you can see the lights vibrating.

Can't remember what one I have fitted though.

Well i fitted a brand new factory mount and cant believe how much better it is over my polybushed one which was shaking the car to death, shame to loose the extre trottle responce, but when doing high milage drving i prefer my sanity in traffic

1 year ago I fitted a brand new factory dogbone too, and 12 months later became a bucket of lard from a gearbox mount

Yeah but at £25 a time for new original, or £30 for a bush that is vibrating the car to hell, i want comfort as i spend a lot of time in traffic, unless someone can recomend a softer Polybush kit ill just keep putting on standard

Had a bit more of a drive and mine feels great. No noticeable vibrations over the modded stock one I had on but it has cured the slight exhaust knock when I lift off the power. I tried a stock one and it was horrible, made the exhaust hit the body as the engine slopped about!

  • 2 months later...

Ive just purchased a red one but wondering what difference doing the front one would also make?

Would it shake my teeth out?

I have owned a mk4 golf gt tdi with all uprated vibrateknics mounts (lhs rhs + dogbone) and it was hilarious

to be honest not many people have it fitted,  most just do the rear dogbone mount
