vRS diffuser screwed or welded? - ELSAWin anyone?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'd like to know If the diffuser on the vRS rear bumper is detachable, or If it's been welded/soldered and in case of bumper replacement (such as mine) you'd need to buy a new diffuser as well (even though it hasn't been harmed at all).

Dealer said he thinks it can't be replaced so the total price raises almost to the double, since the diffuser is more expensive than the bumper itself....

Also, I'd really appreciate any pictures from ELSAWin, that illustrate the removal of the vRS rear bumper from anybody with access to it.

Many thanks!

Hmm, not what I wanted to hear! Seems I won't escape the cost of buying a new diffuser as well... Thanks anyway!

It is gluuuuued unfortunately.

I cant believe its almost £170 for the diffusor! MILOTEC do one for 70 quid but its not the same style.

Yes it's a ridiculous price, almost makes you want to fit a standard Fabia bumper alone :giggle:

But I wonder how this guy managed to remove it and sell it separately, http://cgi.ebay.co.u...3#ht_500wt_1180

Does this mean it would look like crap with all the welding residue etc. left there? I'm not sure...

I think you can use a string (like a guitar string) and slowly move it across and between the bumper and the diffuser in order to remove it. Not sure if you will need to somehow warm up the silicone but it will not be easy - those silicone are tough and I think a 3M double sided tape is also used to strengthen the installation around the edges.

The silicone will definitely leave marks.
