What did you use on the leather Jase? I'm starting to get a few little spots where the colour has rubbed out and need to touch it up

Cheers

Got it from ebay was called dynamix i think, got jaguar black but to me black is black :) it just leather paint

Did the gearknob tonight and it looks spiffing :)

Cheers, found them online - I take it you just purchased a bottle of the leather dye - as the "Repair Kits" seem quite expensive!

What's the repair process? Just give the leather a good clean, apply dye and leave a few hours to dry?

Cheers

You get instructions with it (i just got dye)

Comes with applicator sponge

All you need to do is

Good wash to remove leather of all oils (fairy liquids probably just as good as anything)

Leave to dry for an hour or so.

Then apply dye using sponge and dab on, coats will be dry in around 20/30 mins, i did about 5 coats

Then leave 24 hours to cure. And wait 7 days until you retreat leather with balm!

De-rub stripped it today!

Kindov in 2 minds whether to stick em back on or not! Paint is a little bubbly :o

Oh and ordered my kw v1's! Cant wait to get these on

I reckon it'd look better with them on, keep the line from the bumpers all the way down the car. Whereas on something like my Fabia where they're only on the doors, I prefer them removed.

yeah i think they are best back on although i love mine removed on a black car! i just think they look better on all vrs apart from black.

Just watch cause i have bubbles under them! :o not that noticeable but its going to bug me i know it

Worth a claim at skoda?

Edited by BigJase88

you could try at skoda. they mite say your not ment to pull pits of your car apart tho. i got little paint bubbles uunder where i took my mud flaps off. it is quite annoying. If i do it and its bubbly ill just put them back on. Did you just pull em off?

Heat gun set at 300 degrees. And pull slowly, will get 90% off

Then i know its not recommended but paint stripper will soften it and i used a plastic scraper very carefully

Then washed it off with g101, washed car, then polished, couldnt be bothered to wax though :)

this is going to be one of those mods that gets put on the list. dont fancy any paint stripper on my motor either lol

Just ordered some of that Dynamix Jaguar Black dye, will let you know how i get on

Try and do the whole panel if you can to match it the best as possible.

After a week and a good conditioning the seats look as new and you cant tell where has been dyed :)

Put the first coat of dye on about an hour ago, looks like it will only need one coat as it has done a good job of covering up the (admittedly very minor) scuff marks. Only thing is there is a noticeable difference between the two shades of black - cacking myself a bit that I've made it worse, hoping being patient and giving it time to cure will see it right :whew:

Do the whole panel :)

Match wont look perfect until you leave it a week and have the chance to put some auto glym or other conditioner on then it will blend in perfectly :)

Kw v1's fitted and powerflex and superpro bushes added to dogbone mount

Oh my god what a transformation

  • 4 weeks later...

looks fantastic. Still unsure of the side strips removed... maybe look better if the front and rears were colour smoothed and color coded.

Does sit really well on the KWs
