Delivery times

Featured Replies

If I order a Yeti with factory fitted options will the delivery time be longer than an "off the shelf" one. I'm thinking of getting the 1.2 SE which has every thing I need but would prefer the ESP for added safety. Will ordering it with ESP added increase the delivery time?

I doubt there is generally such a thing as an "off the shelf" car nowadays, as most are built to order.

I dont know about the lead time bit I cannot blame you for wanting the ESP option,I think its bonkers that Skoda offer criuse control as standard but a potential life saving device such as ESP is an option on the SE.If I had the choice I know which I would choose.

Delivery times are 6 months for diesel and 4 months for petrol (roughly) at the moment, provided your dealer has build allocation available, ie, they have not already sold too many and have to wait a bit before the order can be put in the queue.

There are usually some stock Yetis (and other Skodas) floating around and available to dealers, so if you don't want to wait then you could get one much quicker. It just may mean compromising on spec/colour. Ask you dealer what's available from stock.

I would not buy one without ESP because to me it's a bit like insurance. Useless until you need it...

Personally I don't think any modern car should come without it.

Not sure that is neccessarily true.. I think it depends on the configuration. There are a number of people here who have ordered just before christmas with delivery already or in the next couple of weeks.

'Off the shelf' cars, if any were available would take around 2 to 3 weeks. These have been already built, some may have options and vary in colours, but please bear in mind that every dealership can see these cars and can take them in the blink of an eye.

Factory orders will take longer, but then you get the exact spec that you would like. Delivery times do vary widely, on petrol engines the factory are advising us to quote around 3 to 4 months, BUT this is all down to quota (see numerous threads on this).

ESP would not make a build time any longer, only DSG (however this is getting better).

I have been looking into a new Yeti and have investigated online/offline brokers and skoda dealers.

For a diesel Yeti DSG 4x4, this I understand to be the longest lead-time vehicle for a bespoke factory order being quoted at 6-7 months by skoda dealers with allocation.

Brokers are quoting from 6 months to over 1 year for a bespoke factory order. One I poke with had a selection of 2.0Tdi 140 DSG 4x4, for purchase from this week, on a 12 plate. Pretty good considering the saving it was coming with. Unfortunately for me, I need a few factory options. I think from a broker, one of them was being more honest than others regarding lead-times (the 12 month or more lead time one). I now understand that only a small number of dealers supply these brokers and they are way over allocation. I can't be sure, but reading between the lines, their supplying dealers are probably so over allocation that they do not even place the order on the factory for 6 months (hence the total lead time being suggested at 12 months or more).

Reading some other forum posts and the huge variation in lead-time has placed a bit of doubt in my mind. Don't get me wrong, a broker option has some financial benefits provided you do not need to plan around the vehicle arriving.

I visited a dealer on Saturday and he said the lead times for petrol Yeti's is about three months longer for diesels. I asked for a quote and he said the best guide is to look at What Car? target prices and that's what they would match or slightly better. When I mentioned Drive the Deal he said whichever dealer they are using must be selling at a loss, he can't see how their prices can be so low. He also hinted that allocations can effect waiting times. soupafly has certainly given me food for thought; I was all set to go with Drive the Deal.

Interesting to see all of these Honda owners looking to swap for a Yeti

Clyde, don't go with DtD, do shop around. I had a high spec with a few 000's on options and get 12% discount over list

By shop around I mean shop around skoda dealers. It wasn't fair to quote prices and dealers on here but I can tell you I'm astounded how much variance in discount there are between them. My local dealer was the worst. Shame really because they were the ones that let me do all the extended test driving and I would have liked for them to get the order. They told me they would come back with an improved offer........ never came back at all. Not a good sign when you'd think the best level of communication would be at the time they are trying to get a sale!

Oh well.

My local dealer was completely rubbish- no negotiation at all at either end of the deal--more or less said take it or leave it, I can probably sell these for more than list etc etc.

Ordered through DtD end of October--I have a confirmed build date next week. I expect to get the car in 3 weeks or so.The DtD dealership seems fine so far as I can tell--I have had no problem contacting them and they have updated me by e-mail.I agree it feels a bit weird doing business like this- but I do think it has a useful place for those who order direct from dealerships, as at least it gives you a lever on price for everyone else in the market. The test of a good dealership is when you have a problem--how well do they deal with it? That seems to be a bit patchy, at best, I would say. Its incredible , I think that you spend 20k on something and the attitude of most dealerships is quite poor, amazing really.I intend using one of the dealerships locally, for servicing etc.[not the nearest one as mentioned above] which gets a decent write up on this forum--hopefully I wont need to get too well in with them as the car won't develop any faults?

We ordered a 1.2TSI Elegance with sunroof and electrically heated windscreen on 31 December 2011. It was built week 6, delivered to dealer (Meadens, Sway) 1 March and we pick it up this Friday after they have fitted a towbar. So about 10 weeks for a 1.2 petrol with factory options which seems pretty reasonable.

I appreciate that this information is 12 months out of date but I ordered from Drive the Deal on 22nd Feb 2011 and took delivery on 23rd June 2011.

As you can see from my signature that I had many extras and DSG. The sunroof was added to the order in May so I was well pleased, 4 months wait only.

Good service and a good price from D the D

I had a (provisional) build date from my dealer today - week 14 (6th April) from an order placed week 8 (24th Feb) plus the usual shipping and pdi so I hope to see it before the end of April. I can just about leave my winter tyres on my current car till then and save 45 mins grovelling around outside.

The Yeti is a fairly standard 1.2 Elegance without glass roof or DSG but even so I was surprised/pleased by the dates as originally I was told 12 weeks until build.

The dealer said that Skoda had cancelled all the dealer demos to give priority to retail builds?

Hi all...new here, my 4x4 2.0 140 DSG Elegance, ordered end of December was first said to be deliverable mid-May. In fact, it seems the factory closes for the month of January. Ordering at end of year enabled a discount. Delivery to Paris. Will post pics when it arrives !

I ordered my 2.0 170 Elegance mid December and it slotted into the build system somewhere after week 18, with a provisional delivery date of May/June. The dealer has just emailed to say the build week has been brought forward to week 18, so all things being well it should be here by the end of May. Only extras are a spare wheel and heated front screen, so I assume that makes it an easier build.

Can I ask which dealer you used? I'm getting a massive bloody runaround with my car via a broker (ordered May 2011, still no build date) and I'm getting rather tempted to cancel. I note you're based in Yorkshire so would be interested.....

Benfield Skoda in Harrogate. They also seem to have a steady stream of demo/showroom cars going through - the showroom model was different every time I went as the previous one always got sold promptly. I was tempted to bypass the wait and go for the Steel Grey/Onyx Elegance they had in when I ordered, but that didn't have the heated screen (which I do want), but did have park assist (which I'd rarely use and pushed the price up too much). Because they can sell them easily you won't get a big discount, though.

Being a 'spur of the moment' person I generally tend to buy demonstrators especially when the delivery dates are many months forward.

However, the Dealers close to me love me at the moment as I am now on my 3rd Yeti - all ex demos - since January!!

I have now finally got what I want - a 2.0 140 DSG 4x4 Elegance in Aqua Blue/Black.

I am happy - not sure about my wife or the bank manager!!

Update...not having received the car by mid-July, I cancelled my order, very reluctantly of course, and headed off on holiday in a Sixt Polo. Nice car, considering its limitations.

Upon return, I returned to see the Skoda dealer end September, hoping for some news. In the meantime, "my" Yeti did finally arrive mid-August, and promptly found a taker.

Seems though, that the Sales Manager so liked my configuration, that he ordered an identical one for the dealership. My salesman informed me that in fact the car was scheduled to be delivered shortly. Seems the original delay had been caused by a shortage of DSG boxes, but who knows...

So not to drag this on, I was finally delivered mid-October. In all, almost a year after my December 2011 order !!! Am I pleased ? The Yeti has exceeded my expectations, especially in the "fun to drive" category.

Best to all...
