VRS Front Wheel Bearing

Featured Replies

Just had my Wheel Bearings replaced both front @ 45,000 miles. Was supprised that they went so early and also byt the £277 price to get them both changed. Has anyone else had them change is this High

Cheers

Mine cost me £135 a side I think back around xmas 2010. It is not an easy job, the local garage that did mine had to have the car for two days I think something to do with the ABS rings held them up. Mine went at about 130k. Even if the cars only done 45k the bearings are still the best part of 8-10 years old and might have taken any amount of stress from potholes or kerbs.

Thanks for your reply its helped £135 sounds around the same as I paid, and it was done i 5hrs and a service.

Thanks

The front bearings need a hydraulic press to remove and replace, the abs ring is easily damaged any other way

Mine went at 39,000 - potholes, we think!

Did the job myself, so the cost was minimal. Think Skoda wanted near £300 to do it, mind!

I've done a front one on mine, not the easiest thing to do

Bearing falls to bits when you press it out and you have to angle grind it off hub

Both my front ones went at 70k under warranty (3yrs old) by Skoda and have both been replaced subsequently at 105k and 110k L & R. The rears were both done by 115k too. Never owned a vehicle that goes through wheel bearings like this one, they just don't seem to have been specced to deal with the higher forces they're subjected to with sticky wide tyres as opposed to the 165mm eco-warrior stuff that they first came fitted with.

Did mine at around 40k years ago

I am up to 194k+ on the original front bearings.... <touch wood they don't fail now>
