Clutch change, what tools//parts required?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Changing my clutch tomorrow but quick few questions, heard a few bolts are stretch ones? So will need new ones? If so which?

And driveshafts? Some people saying hex bolts? Some say spline? What tool//size is required.

Lastly. I rang traders and they said I won't know what clutch I need until its off? As there's 2 types?

Mines a 05 Reg, ASZ engine.

Thanks.

Haynes just refers to the diameter of the plate (200),i thats any help .

Not sure on the tools required, but they're right about the two different types.

Sachs or LUK could be fitted from the factory, and the clutch / DMF aren't interchangeable between the two. Sachs DMF means Sachs clutch and vice versa.

IIRC the LUK DMF is thinner with the clutch plate thicker to make the same overall thickness.

If you're changing the flywheel at the same time, then no need to worry about it as you can just get matching parts :)

Might be worth a mail to Unit 18 .It's only approx 80 miles down there .
