Changing comfort indicators from 3 to 4 flashes on an Octavia II this afternoon with VCDS.

Exit VCDS. Unplug OBD plug and turn key back to OFF.

Go to start car after glow plug lights gone out and it won't start. Lights flickering, not turning over.

MFD displys FAULT ESP and steering wheel light illuminated:

Run a fault scan and errors as below - (NB wiper motor error - 09 Central Electrics present on pre-changes scan)

Any thoughts? Couldn't find anything on the Ross-Tech wiki

It must be something you have done, go back and re-trace your work and restore the values you changed.

Long shot but try disconnecting the battery and then trying again.

Looks like a coding error, did you make a note of the coding before changing anything. I would change it all back and see if the problem is resolved.

Battery related. RAC on-site. 540 cold cranking amps battery reading 86 cold cranking amps :wonder:

No coding alterations carried out other than the comfort indicators. Changed this back. Re-scanned and same as above.

Essentially the battery has gone very flat, very quickly :(

Panic over. The car is started and running.....

Battery connected to RAC van for 20 minutes and it's back to "almost full strength".

Recommendation from RAC to take it for a drive for 10-12 miles to fully recharge.

I'm puzzled as to how the charge drops so rapidly???

Sounds like me last weekend, just got vcds so spent a lot of time playing, came to start car Sunday evening and wouldn't start, got a whole raft of fault lights on dash and panicked for a moment. Then thought about things and stuck the jump leads on to the wife's car and started first time.

What I will say is the battery on my 2.0 TDi pd scout is nearly half the capacity of my mates mondo tdci which seems a bit suspicious!

Did the car have either DRL's on or Auto lights on?

Wont take long to drain the battery with the lights on.

I have found on one or two occasions when messing with VCDS, the electric power steering has become energised. Only noticed it literally a few times before but the electric steering is easily the biggest consumer of power with maybe the exception of the starter motor. Maybe it was something like that?

Took delivery of my new 12 plate L&K on Wednesday, and tried changing the comfort indicator flashes from 3 to 5, via the adaptation channel, it stored the new value of 5, but when you try the indicators they still flash 3 times, any ideas?

A stab in the dark but try disabling comfort indicators then re enable them.
