TPMS

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have read elsewhere that the indirect TPMS system can be enabled and works fine without the reset button and loom (use VCDS to reset it) on the Mk6 Golf using the mk60ec1 abs controller. Does anyone know if the same is possible for the Octy? Or does the Octy use a different abs unit?

Thanks,

And.

Sorry, just spotted this.

I suppose it could work, possibly. Would be a question I'd put in the VCDS section, for the Ross-Tech guys to check up on.

I could provide a scan file from a Mk6 Golf too, if that helped compare controllers.

Steve

The octavia uses a mk7 abs unit.

However it also supports indirect tpms ...

The only problem being that you will need vcds to reset it everytime the warning comes up.

-- my car has only asr (not esp) so I have the mk7 and unit ... If your car has esp it is worth checking your abs unit with vcds as it might be the mk6 one

on the fl vrs - u don't need vcds to reset the tpms.

there is button u can press to reset it.

The question is whether you can utilise the TPMS system, without having the actual button fitted :)

TPMS isn't standard across the range, but the controller may well support the feature. Hence being able to have the functionality, without the button being present - if that makes sense.

Thanks Steve, it's the EC1 bit I'm not sure on as I at least know my ESP unit is an MK60. At some I think I will just give this a go and see what happens.

I have a sales brochure from the year of my car which also states TPMS is available as an option on all but the Scout which is confusing.

Does anyone know if ESP module changed between pre fl and fl as I've definitely seen an fl scout with TPMS.

Vcds to reset it is not a problem as I always have the lead in the car and usually my laptop as well.

I wouldn't presume anything on the brochure, that much I know :)

Far too many things are retrofittable (is that a word?!?) and tweakable where the brochure and an apparently all-knowing dealer would have you told otherwise.

Grab the controller details from a VCDS scan on yours, and see if you can find anyone who's got an FL Scout - hopefully with VCDS as well, so you can easily compare details

As said, if you want info from a Mk6, let me know.

Cheers Steve, yes the info on the MK6 ABS module/coding would be useful for comparison (I guess preferably one with TPMS fitted). My ABS coding is:

Address 03: ABS Brakes Labels: 1K0-614-517-MK60-A.lbl

Part No SW: 1K0 614 517 AD HW: 1K0 614 517 AD

Component: ESP 4MOTION MK60-AT 0102

Revision: 00H14001

Coding: 0023170

Shop #: WSC 73430 790 00000

VCID: 69DDFA074062C3B

No fault code found.

Anybody out there with a facelift Scout with TPMS who could share their ABS coding?

Reason I am looking at this is I do some work with the Highways Agency and Prison Service etc. and am regularly on and off building sites (Hence the Scout). I have had a few expeiences of picking something up along the way (Presumed from a building site or something) which causes a slow puncture which is excellerated when I hit the Mway leading to catastrophic failure. I have heard people say TPMS is useless but anything I can do to try and help protect myself from the brown trouser moments on the Mway without having to be constantly checking and rechecking tyres would be useful.

I realise I could just turn this on via VCDS and see what happens but before I do I would like to know a. will I damage anything? and b. will it work properly or just look like its working but give erronious results?

ABS Coding from my vRS (facelift):-

Address 03: ABS Brakes (J104) Labels: 1K0-907-379-60EC1F.clb

Comparing those, I think you'll need to see FL Scout data now, seeing as yours uses the '4MOTION MK60' module....

Yep, definite difference there between the MK60-AT in mine and the MK60EC1 in the VRS.

The MK60EC1 was what I saw the details about saying the retrofit without switch was possible on mk6 Golf, I wonder what the differences are to mine? (Also does that mean I am less susceptable to the MK60 failure?)

I also assume the standard 4x4 (Non-Scout) will have the same module (Maybe Yeti too?) so anyone out there with a 4x4 or Scout with TPMS who could share there coding?

PS. Thanks for sharing that JR RS

The yeti has te mk6 but not sure if it's the 4motionmk6

Search for pramods from the members section, he has done the indirect tpms retrofit without the reset button.. He might be able to help you out

Is it a 4x4 alberg?

Doesn't look like it, from the scan details.
