Remote control matching

Featured Replies

I'm trying to match one of my son's remote controls to his 2006 Fabia vRS using vag com.

One of the remote controls stopped working a couple of days ago when he let his baby boy play with one of the car keys (I think the baby must of pressed the buttons on the control out of range of the car ???).

I've followed the VAG COM instructions ie 46, 10, read, test, save, however I can't seem to change the number of stored keys in channel 01 from 1 to 2.

Even erasing existing remotes in channel 00 does'nt appear to make any difference.

What am I doing wrong.

Bill.

It's usually straight forward, 46,10,00 and erase then back into 10, 01, change to 2 test and save and then press a button on each remote.

Err you have tried changing the batteries haven't you? Didn't think repeated pressing of the remote out of range would do owt?

Would be funny if it was the batteries after all your hassle. Pressing buttons out of range wouldnt/shouldnt do anything to the programing of the keys and as fordfan says its very straight forward. Check the red led lights up when you press and buttons im sure the fabia has one the same as the octys to the right hand side of the buttons. If it does no light no power.

When i got a new remote for my mk 1 octy it took me 5 mins to programme it in. All I had to do was put a key in the ignition, swich it on and then lock the driver's door using the spare key and then press lock or unlock twice on the remote i was programming

Thanks for your help guys.

I've changed the battery (N105 283 01) but still no good ????

When you go through the recoding process the duff fob beeps the alarm when you press a button (same as the working key) but it just wont actually work at the end of recoding.

I'm begining to think its going to need the 4-digit SKC entering into [17-instruments] in order to get it working????

However we dont have the SKC number so will prob end up having to take it back to the dealers.

Bill.

You don't need the SKC for remotes it's only needed to code the key.

Have you tried the method detailed above using two keys, one in the ignition and one in the door? It worked for my Mk I Fabia.

Thats good news then.....I dont need the SKC.

I'll try Raf's "key in door" suggestion some time this week.

Bill.
